IIRC, he went on some spiel about how he doesn't like Vancouverites because they're all rich and arrogant, while he's a jeans-wearing blue collar worker from oil country or whatever.

Personally, I could care less about his hockey takes but he just comes off as a total f***ing dweeb.

He projects a lot of manliness with his high pitched, whiny voice. A ton of manliness. Just so much manliness.

I can see a previous Canucks GM make that trade and proudly declare it a win as Jiricek is further along in his development because he has played Nhl games.
Willander would then immediately make the NHL following college season ending, be point per game, and win the Calder next year.

Also People are mad at Seravalli because he wasn't just content to eat his own feelings but other people's feelings as well.

As Canuck fans would you consider a Jiricek and Johnson trade for Lekkerimaki and Willander? Bring home a local boy with tons of skill and a Big RHD who can step in the lineup quicker?
I’d go no. Probably easier to say no when you see some warts in prospects when they transition to the next level from ncaa/Europe to ahl/NHL. Plus our guys are on elc.

Something isn’t right with jiricek situation. Should have been an easy decision to send him back to the AHL last season but wasn’t done. Something was up with that. Not sure I want to bring that in.

I was going to say, that would be about the most Benning move I could imagine.

It is totally my fault for blueballsing myself with the stupid Reddit rumour. I want to find out where that guy lives and have a nice productive chat with him.

i mean when you consider how easy it is for some random canuck fan on reddit to decide to be a troll, you're much better off assuming any "rumour" posted is BS. The Lindholm deal was the outlier.

I want us to make a splash. Get Josi or something. Or Crosby. We need to make full use of Quinn Hughes and his play. The chances of us getting another player like him are so slim.

I’d be more intrigued in this rumour if it was like, a CBJ fan that posted it but this dude is obviously a young Canucks fan who plays a lot of HUT and was probably fed some BS from some dude online pretending to know someone in the CBJ organization.

Quinns value is at an all time high. Now would be the time to trade him. He's a loose cannon and it's only a matter of time before he gets suspended again.

Think it's time to put Miller, Boeser and Demko on LTIR, trade for Malkin and Letang (Soucy, Hoglander, 1st should do it) and reactivate everyone for the playoffs. Just win baby.

It's a more nuanced argument though. If our GM is wrong about the player coming back and wrong about the player that was given up it's going to be bad. All else being equal, trading a player the team drafted in the 5th round last summer for a player who is 3 years ahead in development is suppose to get you a player who is better over the next 2 or even 3 years. On the flip side, when we traded Hodgson for Kassian we downgraded the lineup immediately as we were wrong about the readiness of Kassian.

In this case, Willander may be in the lineup by the end of the season and Jiricek isn't that further along given his NHL struggles. Given that Willander looks like a stud, trading Willander for Jiricek doensn't make sense to me unless the Canucks really like Jiricek from the time of his draft and that hasn't changed (worth mentioning in that Jiricek comes from a weak draft). Now does Lekkerimaki for Jiricek make sense? Not if we add a 1st. The two are from the same draft and given we ranked Lekkerimaki 8th in the draft, that's a ton of value given up.

It doensn't sound like the trade is happening but it would be an exciting acquisition. Jiricek shares the same agent as Hronek so he would have a mentor here.

Would need to dig up old articles by A. Portzline on how Jiricek was handled by the previous CBJ management, but it was bunch of press box combined with telling him to get a home from columbus and then sending him down to AHL. Sure, he is a bit of an arrogant person so maybe the tough love was warranted but you can imagine being in a losing team that handles things like that with brad larsen as their travis green.

I think it's safe to assume that every Canuck coach in the last 30 years has had an aversion to playing younger, inexperienced players...and then get blamed for stunting their careers.

Hughes might not re-sign, Willander might suck, and take years to become an NHL player..?

What's with all the fear/ doomsaying based posting..Pretty soon you'll be posting that the players are 'eating the cats, eating the dogs..'.
There are no guarantee's of anything.

Winning is not guaranteed.

Willander is not a guaranteed difference maker, neither is Jiricek but plays in the NHL now and the other has yet to.

The thread is so is overly hopeful or convinced that these prospects will not only make the team but bump players off the line up that the other side of the coin should be considered.

Jiricek CAN play in the NHL NOW. His problem is salaries and CBJ defence depth

Hughes has not bought a house here and jets home to be with his brothers and family every off season.
Vancouver is not the best city for anonymity. AND if the team doesn't win consistently playing for NJ might look pretty good, players are not chattel, as pointed out with Miller they can choose to do things. If the team takes a step back this year, IMO they were never going to be as good this year after the summer dealings, would it not be a "human" thing to want to go to a team playing with your brothers, closer to home with a better chance of winning the cup?
By the time his contract comes due if has not had more than 2 winning seasons during his time here is it not possible, as a human, that he might move on?

Management should be considering those possibilities and planning ahead, not like Benning who ran out of time.

This opinion is based on the way the group is now, Boeser could be traded and a couple of top six prospects come back, or they trade for first and get lucky in the lottery or they really suck due to injuries etc and get a top pick

It is closer to know what you have when there is already examples.
Lekkerimaki, needs to get stronger to play Tocchet hockey, a couple of seasons? One more?

Canucks need defence upgrades, Jiricek would be an upgrade, without a doubt and cap control.

As an example, not even Demko knows how he will come back for sure and doubt has been expressed by a few media shows that he comes back at all.

If it helps, would it be a good idea at the draft if the Canucks could move up to #6?
Like, I don't think that Jiricek is a terrible prospect or anything, but we've got an extremely rare breed of RHD prospect in Willander that you just do not trade away for anything but a legit top-4 NHL D man with several years of team control. He may not play a game that shows up on the scoring logs every night, but god damn could he be a guy that quietly destroys 20+ minutes a night.
Rare breed? They just traded a RHD that got 92 points in the OHL. Willander is not standing out in the NCCA east conference, there is a 17yr old he partners with, Sascha Boumedienne that might be better on his team.
There is alot of talk about Sawyer Mynio 's defensive prowess. Both him and Jiricek have been compared to Tanev.

Demko is one more injury away from having negative value.

Do you let him play and gamble with him as an asset or do you trade him now while he has some value.

Demko for Nikishin would be wonderful.

IF the Canucks make any deals involving millions of dollars of cap/salary they are hamstrung by the 5.5 million they pay other players to play against them next year. Unless they ship out millions of dollars of salary.
They may wait until January when the writing is on the wall where they are likely to finish. Maybe even December.
The US thanksgiving day model has had so many years of data that it has become a watermark for success in that year. As I posted, I prefer the first week in December as the guideline.
If JT wants out.

JT for Kj, Jiricek & a top ten protected 1st

🤔
Maybe even more

They might jump at that but I think Rutherford/Allvin would not want to value that high going to the same conference. Old school, trade out of conference and reduce blow back.

Necas + for Pettersson would have been a good deal.

Could you imagine what Hughes would get in return? IMO, multiple 1rst's, prospects and a pretty good dman. 4 or 5 for one. Even two years from now but one year at his current cap hit would add or upgrade more.

Demko has zero value right now. No one is trading for an injury prone goalie. While he’s not negative, he’s not getting you a top 5 prospect in the game.

Canucks are “armed with conviction” when making a trade what does that mean?

Almost every single GM is hesitant to actually put an offer on the table and are hesitant to actually make a trade. When Allvin and Rutherford want a player, they are aggressive and make legitimate offers.

Going to ignore the previous part of your post because it is such a rambling mess I have no idea what you are trying to say. This part, though, is completely and utterly untrue.
