IIRC, he went on some spiel about how he doesn't like Vancouverites because they're all rich and arrogant, while he's a jeans-wearing blue collar worker from oil country or whatever.

Personally, I could care less about his hockey takes but he just comes off as a total f***ing dweeb.

He projects a lot of manliness with his high pitched, whiny voice. A ton of manliness. Just so much manliness.

I can see a previous Canucks GM make that trade and proudly declare it a win as Jiricek is further along in his development because he has played Nhl games.
Willander would then immediately make the NHL following college season ending, be point per game, and win the Calder next year.

Also People are mad at Seravalli because he wasn't just content to eat his own feelings but other people's feelings as well.

As Canuck fans would you consider a Jiricek and Johnson trade for Lekkerimaki and Willander? Bring home a local boy with tons of skill and a Big RHD who can step in the lineup quicker?
I’d go no. Probably easier to say no when you see some warts in prospects when they transition to the next level from ncaa/Europe to ahl/NHL. Plus our guys are on elc.

Something isn’t right with jiricek situation. Should have been an easy decision to send him back to the AHL last season but wasn’t done. Something was up with that. Not sure I want to bring that in.

I was going to say, that would be about the most Benning move I could imagine.

It is totally my fault for blueballsing myself with the stupid Reddit rumour. I want to find out where that guy lives and have a nice productive chat with him.

i mean when you consider how easy it is for some random canuck fan on reddit to decide to be a troll, you're much better off assuming any "rumour" posted is BS. The Lindholm deal was the outlier.

I want us to make a splash. Get Josi or something. Or Crosby. We need to make full use of Quinn Hughes and his play. The chances of us getting another player like him are so slim.

I’d be more intrigued in this rumour if it was like, a CBJ fan that posted it but this dude is obviously a young Canucks fan who plays a lot of HUT and was probably fed some BS from some dude online pretending to know someone in the CBJ organization.

Quinns value is at an all time high. Now would be the time to trade him. He's a loose cannon and it's only a matter of time before he gets suspended again.

Think it's time to put Miller, Boeser and Demko on LTIR, trade for Malkin and Letang (Soucy, Hoglander, 1st should do it) and reactivate everyone for the playoffs. Just win baby.

It's a more nuanced argument though. If our GM is wrong about the player coming back and wrong about the player that was given up it's going to be bad. All else being equal, trading a player the team drafted in the 5th round last summer for a player who is 3 years ahead in development is suppose to get you a player who is better over the next 2 or even 3 years. On the flip side, when we traded Hodgson for Kassian we downgraded the lineup immediately as we were wrong about the readiness of Kassian.

In this case, Willander may be in the lineup by the end of the season and Jiricek isn't that further along given his NHL struggles. Given that Willander looks like a stud, trading Willander for Jiricek doensn't make sense to me unless the Canucks really like Jiricek from the time of his draft and that hasn't changed (worth mentioning in that Jiricek comes from a weak draft). Now does Lekkerimaki for Jiricek make sense? Not if we add a 1st. The two are from the same draft and given we ranked Lekkerimaki 8th in the draft, that's a ton of value given up.

It doensn't sound like the trade is happening but it would be an exciting acquisition. Jiricek shares the same agent as Hronek so he would have a mentor here.

Would need to dig up old articles by A. Portzline on how Jiricek was handled by the previous CBJ management, but it was bunch of press box combined with telling him to get a home from columbus and then sending him down to AHL. Sure, he is a bit of an arrogant person so maybe the tough love was warranted but you can imagine being in a losing team that handles things like that with brad larsen as their travis green.
