agreed on all fronts, but everyone coming off the bench is still a 4/5 lol, and its unrealistic to expect more than 15 mins(20 max) mins a game from thad. if this move was made with something else it would have made more sense.i still dont see it, but time will tell.
True. But Young can guard most wings and small ball centres so I think there’s a chance he plays some 3 behind Boucher and one of Birch or Achiuwa. I like the theoretical dynamic of Young and Boucher as fire and ice at the two forward spots. Siakam/Barnes run point with these 3 and stagger Trent/Anunoby on the other wing when VanVleet is on the bench.

And if 15 mins shaves 3 minutes off each starter that’s a win in itself!

lol one can hope, but seriously..we need a scorer still. bembry was waived by the nets, could be a worthwhile pickup as he knows the system and has been hitting 3s at a nice clip this year.

hmm pretty small sample size though.

That Nets/Sixers trade should do a good job of hurting both teams. The Sixers should be built around Embiid and now they've acquired a guy who will dominate the ball like nobody's business. Meanwhile the Nets trade out a disgruntled jerk but get back a non-shooter who hasn't played meaningful basketball in like a year to play on a team with a part-timer headcase and Kevin Durant as played by Samuel L Jackson from Unbreakable.

for philly i can see it going sideways for sure, i think for brooklyn it actually makes sense, they have shooters and dont need simmons to shoot, he can focus on facilitating.

and they got another shooter in curry and 2 1st rnd picks

I like Bembry and wouldn't mind bringing him back but he seems a little redundant with Banton. Encouraging to see he's been a more willing shooter this year but I don't think he'd bring the scoring pop you're looking for. If they go with a scoring/playmaking guard I think he needs to be a shooter but I'd prefer a 3rd centre that can bang with Vucevic. Bucks, Sixers and Nets likely ain't happening but I think they have a shot to upset the Bulls.

I know you like Watanabe - I still think he could be a 10-12 point rotation player if he would attack a little more on offense. See flashes when he looks to score but they just don't happen consistently. He needs minutes to build confidence but Nurse wont play him. If they could get him going he could be the 3 level bench scorer they need.

yuta stopped getting minutes when he started fouling constantly, i like yuta if hes playing good defense, has hasnt been unfortunately.

Having Kobe didn't hurt Shaq, I think it was a decent deal for both sides.

I think it's better for Brooklyn, mainly if the rumours were true that Harden was going to walk after this year anyway. They got a star, picks, and a great shooter for someone who may have left for nothing in a few months.

Philly got one of the best players in the world (when Harden is on his game) - it's hard to complain about a trade where you acquire one of the best players alive.

Harden is great when he's playing in a very specific system/style of play designed around him and isolation shooting.

Which I don't think fits very well with Embiid and Philly.

Lets hope we can sign a decent depth guy or 2 from the buy out pool... Moving back out 1st to Detroit's 2nd is minimal with our front office. Also 2nd round picks offer more flexibility contract wise for the team... We could have added a bigger name but Masai and Co. want to get options open, Im happy with the deadline approach. The team is winning and chemistry will only improve going forward.

This teams really cooking.
Versatility is the trademark, and creating mismatches.
PF playing PG and putting up near triple doubles is crazy.

You realize Harden is among the league leader in assists right. He is not the same player he was in Houston. He is much more of a complete player now.

Ironically, Harden is taking less shots per game this year than FVV.

The actual knock on Harden has been commitment to D. He is 12th in PG DWS this year (percentage points above FVV), and 10th in overall PG WS (Note: this is among players listed as PG on Basketball-Reference)

Signing a potential shooter from the buyout class is needed. Not sure who are candidates to be bought out. Anyone know?

Gary Harris - 3 and D bench piece
Terrance Ross - 3 and D bench piece
Eric Bledsoe - 3 and D bench piece (possible starter moving someone like Trent to 2nd unit and 6th man)
Dennis Schroeder - PG depth, can score
Rodney Hood - Would we even consider????
Kent Bazemore - Can shoot 3 and has versatility
Robin Lopez - Big body to play C and rebound
Tristan Thompson - Big body to play C and rebound
Paul Milsap - Vet, can score, rebound BUT we have enough of these types do we not?

These are some names that can possibly be bought out that may be looking for a home in the short term. Any of them of interest?

Would gladly bring TRoss back. While Bledsoe fills a need better (backup PG), if we can get anything out of Banton, Flynn, Ross would actually improve the 2nd unit more.

Hopefully last night was the beginning of Flynn regaining his groove.

What is the timeframe for buyouts to occur?

Flynn won’t see the floor much anymore, especially when Vanvleet comes back. Nurse has a short memory when people have a good game but never forgets if they have a bad one.

For Flynn it's not about having a good game or a bad game.

He needs to put in the work in practice to put himself in a position to play more.
