Simmons continues to not make sense for me because he doesn't fit what the Raptors need. He's more of what they have and I don't like the idea of compounding the team's weaknesses while getting only the marginal additional benefits of continuing to heap additional talent onto its existing strengths.

Dallas trade is good enough value for me but I don’t like the balance they’re left with. Dragic is a combo guard and Yuta can effectively play and guard 2-4… Brown is a project centre and Powell is almost exclusively a centre as well.
Kinda kills the whole ‘positionless versatility’ they seem to be going for.
Philly trade is far too much from Toronto. Simmons isn’t a number 1 option and can’t take the ball and close games in the 4th… I’m not bundling assets for someone like that… Especially not two All star calibre players and a first round pick. My offer for Simmons would be Dragic and Freddy Gillespie.
Barnes could very well be as or more effective as a player in the very near future.
I’d trade Siakam+ for Simmons. But that + better not be anything of significant value, especially not FVV.

If we need a bucket, at least we know Siakam is willing to try to get a bucket.

Siakam may only have an average medium shooting game, but at least he has a medium shooting game. Can’t really say the same for Simmons.

And amid uncertainty about Ujiri’s future in the city this summer, Tory said he personally phoned up MLSE to make sure they did everything in their power to keep Ujiri around long term, who was one of the masterminds behind the 2019 NBA champion roster.
Mayor Tory spoke about the phone call during an unveiling of a new public art installation outside of Union Station, curated by Ujiri.
“I called to say we need him to stay here,” Tory said Wednesday at the unveiling. “I don’t interfere often with these kinds of things. It’s not right for me to do so. But in this case, I felt that it was [necessary] because… he built a championship team here. He’d be the first to say it was with the help of a lot of other people. And he will build a championship team again. But I called because I said that the city of Toronto needs Masai to be here.”

please lets stop with the simmons stuff, dude is a head case and with his "everything is great with my game" attitude his offense is likely to get even worse. i dont want somebody with that level of talent and lack of winning attitude anywhere near our young guys.
