once you’re in the dance anything can happen. Get there, but you’re a shit fan if you don’t want them to make it just so they can have some bullshit epiphany of some sort LOL

There is not a single Leafs fan posting on this forum that doesn't want the Leafs to make the playoffs and wouldn't love to see them go deep.

That's why we're so disappointed, because we want the team to be good and do well.

Some goaltending performances are so poor and leave such a bad taste in your mouth that all trust in that goalie is forever eliminated. I think back to JT's return to Long Island when the fans were letting him have it and Sparks completely fell on his face.

This game achieved that level of failure for Rittich. I'd be fine never seeing him in a Leafs uniform again.

Be honest with yourself as a Leaf fan. Would it truly shock you to see the Leafs make that 1% a reality?

I’m not someone who holds on to the past, so for me it would shock me because Vancouver has to win 17 games to even make it into the playoffs that ain’t happening.

Top 10 teams with xGA/60 all strengths vs. their team save percentage:
1) Colorado (11th)
2) Boston (8th)
3) Dallas (7th)
4) Toronto (18th)
5) Islanders (2nd)
6) Minnesota (5th)
7) Tampa (12th)
8) Philly (31st)
9) Florida (6th)
T10) Detroit (22nd)
T10) Calgary (23rd)
T10) Vegas (1st)

We are the only playoff team with bottom half goaltending, and some of these teams have had some injuries (Colorado) or poor backups (Tampa) that have hurt their ranking a bit.

We literally need a goalie who can play as well as the defense in front of him and we are likely an .800 team right now. We get above average goaltending like what Campbell was giving us in his 11 game win streak... Well we didn't lose a game in that 11 game streak.

Oh they can definitely ice a better bottom-6.

But for whatever stupid f***ing reason there's some obligation that Thornton and Simmonds must be in every game despite being complete deadweight.
Thornton and simmonds were the least of the problems on the ice tonight. Our first line took the night off, and our goaltending mimicked that of a 1970’s goalie. Even a guy like tanner Pearson had no trouble potting two against it.

Good old Leafs, every year they make us believe they are Cup contenders at the beginning of the season. By the end of the year we are just satisfied that they make the playoffs. Of course, they still lose in the first round. I am optimistic. Last year they didn't even make the playoffs. I give all the credit to our making the playoffs to KD. Way to go!

so stop getting caught up in regular season dramatics. They are making the playoffs, let’s see what they do there. They are playing with a fatigued line up, no Foligno or Hutton which I think both will provide good depth. And we haven’t had a #1 goalie for half of the season. We put up 3 and still lost lol.

Goaltending aside, this feels very familiar. Something missing with this group. Like there’s a lack of killer instinct. Can that be learnt or is it just not in their DNA?

It's pretty easy when the opposing goalie is steering your dump in between his legs.

Some would say Washington learned it, same with Detroit.

Put up or shut up time for this core though. It's a deep run or major changes IMO
