I didn't really believe it before this season but it does feel like Sid/the core is keeping Sullivan here. The fanbase has become very vocal about firing Sullivan and the team is dog shit/viewership is dropping. At this point in their careers the core probably doesn't want to deal with another coach. I am fully prepared for Sullivan to be here until Sid retires

I think we should pool our money together to buy the Celtics then run them into the ground

Dubas doesn't like Sullivan. But he was signed long term before Kyle even arrived. And you're right the core was what kept Sullivan here! They deserve the majority of the blame! Ownership as well but they'll relent as the money bleeds out more and more. To be clear, The Core is the primary culprit. If Sid moves, Sullivan likely does as well. If you look what he's doing as GM he's trying to make it so miserable for the core and Sullivan that maybe they'll ask out! OR, they can just twist in the wind and prolong their respective suffering. A bed by the way they made long ago. But Dubas isn't sending them reinforcements no, he'll sell off more pieces off if a player or players help extract value via trade.

Alot could be forgiven if the Pens were at least fun to watch. They've managed to create a terrible product to watch and an extremely unlikeable roster. There just isn't much redeeming about this team.
Yeah, this is the crux of it for me.

I said it the other day but FSG is a real, legit problem. Sully's a coach but he'll eventually be fired or step down. Dubas is a FO nerd but again, he's an interchangeable piece. Ownership? You're stuck with those f***ers until they decide they're bored of owning the team or the league forces them to sell because of some heinous scandal.

FSG has been utter dogshit so far.
I remember we were promised data and analytics and hard but smart choices. And half of this board ate that shit with a fork and asked for seconds

I wouldn’t have wanted to give Montgomery a 5-year deal so glad we didn’t sign him even though I want Sullivan gone…but kudos to the Blues for going bold and trying to turn their season around, unlike these FSG turtles
Why would you want them to TRY and turn it around? That's the very last thing this team needs right now. No, they need to plummet as much as possible. And not just this season, the next three seasons!

Teams can turn it around quick with a competent coach and organization. Continuously losing and blowing it up does not help anyone, just look at the Wings.

Rangers have had near zero downtime with continuous revolving deck chairs behind the bench and player wise as an example.

The way not to do it instead all the way down to studs like the Ducks, Red Wings, and even the Hawks.

But the Rangers didn't continue to mortgage their future like we did. We have nearly a bare cupboard. You just don't wanna go through a long period of misery. There's no quick fix here. We have to accrue top five overall picks. That'll take time. That doesn't guarantee success, however regaining our footing earlier would mire us in mediocrity.

We've been in the mix for the post season even last season (though we weren't legit contenders). The bottom needs to drop out. If you're handling things this bad this early, you're gonna have a tough few years ahead. We've only just begun the pain!

They’re rebuilding now afaic. They’re a bottom 3 team. That’s all you need to be to start a rebuild.
I think there's a difference between a planned rebuild and just being bad. I don't see a vision for this team, so I think it's just this team is bad (largely the direction of the GM and the inept coach behind the bench).

Yeah, Crosby has 21 in 23. But I've watched every Penguins game this season (because of Pulju) and mean no disrespect, but I think it would be in both his own and team's best interest to see him finish his career elsewhere. Nowadays he is only good enough to prevent the team tanking up properly, not good enough to get this team anywhere near playoffs.
Ok f*** I gotta reply to at least this one.

Crosby on this team is a detriment and if Pens fans don't want to admit it or see it, then that's their loss. Werner told Sid in the summer that they want to win with him and so they keep a coach and keep losing? The coach also did what I said would happen - Rust And Rakell with Sid. So again Malkin gets f***ed. One of the biggest problems is also that Sid doesn't even f***ing see it or care. He just sees it as oh hey this is fun. It was fun for him to have Geno on his line but couldn't see how it wasn't great for his game. Its fun for him to have Rust and Raks but doesn't see how it f***s Geno.

Geno has been the one player that deserves a f*** ton more respect that that f***ing soft headed dumb f*** and he doesn't get any of it. So honestly I'll look back on Sid and the cups but my fandom respect goes far more for Geno than it ever will for a f***ing selfish dick like Crosby. So f*** the Crosby dick riders. Sid is a f***ing passenger and a half. He is THE passenger on this team.

His passion for a fight? Lol get f***ed. If Connor could fight he'd do us a favour and KO his ass so he can sit and see how the team is used when a dipshit coach isn't forcing shit for him. There's a reason the Penguins always played better without Crosby.

It's not because they elevated their play. It's because they stopped forcing everything to him and played like an actual team. Him staying f***s the entire rebuild process this team should be in. Now they're some really shitty wannabe bubble team that isn't even good enough to be that and spends to the cap so Sid and his soft dumb head thinks they're still trying for him all the while he blows donkey dick defensively and gets participation points for his f***ing "legacy."

Does that make anyone mad? f*** if I care.

FSG are cold, calculating operators in the business of winning and only winning, STK. They go about their trade like assassins on a wetworks job with icewater in their veins... without emotion or care. The only thing that matters to them is competing at the highest levels. And they will not accept second best at any level of their various organizations. You don't get to be where THESE guys are without stepping on a few necks and making tough decisions let me tell you.

But when you are deeply in love it can really change you, ya know? Make you prioritize new things... start asking what is REALLY important. We should just be happy to watch such a fairytale romance unfold before us in real time. That's the REAL winning, here!
Yeah, I expected that we would became a cutting throats team like the Vegas Golden Knight, not this soft retirement home for 4th liners.

I hate the VGK but they aren't the only team ok with moving on from legends - Tampa let Stamkos walk as well and San Jose let Pavelski walk as well as trading Marleau. We ended up with a f***ing moron for a coach, another f***ing moron for a GM and some of the dumbest f***s as owners. Keeping Malkin would have been fine the way the other teams ended up keeping at least 1 or 2 of their legends, Crosby should have walked, JR should have been allowed to deal Letang, etc.

I disagree. To do a successful rebuild you need far more than just being bad-- you need to start getting the pieces together and developing young talent now, because the role players are going to develop more slowly than the franchise player or two you might get while you're bad. So, we need to be developing more youth, finding role players and, yes, selling off young players too to build a supporting cast.

The real fact is that most of the supporting cast for the next era, whoever might lead it, is going to come from who we draft, and not vets or UFA signings and that is the real slow part of the rebuild.

I think there's a difference between a planned rebuild and just being bad. I don't see a vision for this team, so I think it's just this team is bad (largely the direction of the GM and the inept coach behind the bench).
Exactly. It's the difference between a controlled demolition and a meth lab blowing up the trailer park. Guess which one we're in the middle of?

Exactly. You also need to dedicate a larger portion of your cap space to pick accumulation than they're doing.
Unless you have crazy luck in the draft like NYR, who got Lafreniere with a 2% chance, Shesterkin from a 4th and had Fox force his way to them... you're gonna need quantity to boost your odds.
So far they've begun weaponizing it, but it's still a very timid attempt. The hope is they go hard into this at the deadline and before.

There is so much wasted cap right now on this team. It's achieving nothing in the present and it doesn't help the future. If they don't change this it will not only extend the dark period, but also worsen the quality of the resurgence.

It is hysterical people are falling for the “rebuild.” Dubas made so many mistakes that it was no longer even possible to reach the playoffs. Instead of him getting fired, he labeled his negligence as a rebuild, but it was never his intention.

Pens fans: “he’s brilliant”

You don’t like the nba. Perfect. Sounds like an easy fit for GM when we acquire the Celtics

The entire team is quiet quitting
I wish they would try loud quitting.

Yeah this is what I don’t get about people crowing about how good it is that we’re so bad. We’ve done none of the other legwork to rebuild, we’re just bad and setting ourselves up for a bad rebuild if we don’t change course quick.
