It is hysterical people are falling for the “rebuild.” Dubas made so many mistakes that it was no longer even possible to reach the playoffs. Instead of him getting fired, he labeled his negligence as a rebuild, but it was never his intention.

If it wasn't he wouldn't have traded Guentzel. He gave this team every chance, THEY FAILED him! So, after giving them the benefit of the doubt he realized they just wanna play with their cronies. No one in their right mind could believe a 37 and 38 yr old as their best players could compete, that's just silly. This team was done, that's not on Kyle. That's not to say he didn't make mistakes, but what GM doesn't make mistakes?

He’s made a ton of mistakes in a relatively short period.

So the team was underperforming so he donated Jake to Carolina in retaliation?

None of that would change the trajectory of this team, that's the important thing. Again, the nucleus is old and Stale. Letang and Geno were signed before Dubas arrived. Since he realized they weren't contenders he's accrued picks and prospects. And is not offering the team any other recourse but to plummet as we won't be buying (only selling). That's precisely what they should be doing. Hopefully that forces a Crosby trade to Colorado for a good return. Win for Sid, Win for us!

We got a few good pieces though, YOU'RE conveniently forgetting that . Brunicke looks promising. And Bunting is a serviceable mid 6 forward. You know what the Canes got? NOTHING!

It's like getting a free ice cream at work, but it's vanilla lol

But hey, it's something
Also, instead of signing Jake, which in theory would have elevated us in the standings at least a bit. It'll help us get a better draft pick as we fall further down the standings. But Brunicke looks promising.
