I don't get the connection. There are dozens of ghost towns in Utah. Some with very stupid names. There is an old ghost town in Utah called Mammoth, I think that may be part of the reason.
I'm literally only talking about it possibly being a reason to leave off the S, not the entire name.I don't get the connection. There are dozens of ghost towns in Utah. Some with very stupid names.

The Utah Old Irontown has a nice ring to it.
Still better than the Wild. Not by a huge margin, but it's nice to know there are worse names out there, I guess.
Outlaws is definitely an ECHL tier name.Outlaws is such a cool name with an immediate attachment to the wild west which fits the area pretty well and imo is the most interesting and badass period of America.
The only reason I can think why they passed on it was the colour scheme doesn't scream outlaw? Wild west colours for me would be gold, black, silver and sandy brown?
Mammoth fits very well with the current colour scheme.
To me...worst name in pro sports. Sounds like a lower-level minor league single-A baseball team. Or WNBA team name. Like Fury or something.I loved Wild name when I saw it.
And now after 20 years its even greater name, for most mid, average and unasumming team in league.
Name sucks... but the best logo in all of sportTo me...worst name in pro sports. Sounds like a lower-level minor league single-A baseball team. Or WNBA team name. Like Fury or something.
That's because it is.
But the Outlaws are a PLL team, so either way.
Ahh. Gotcha. Though Utah Old Irontown is a sick name. Maybe that's what they can nickname their rink.I'm literally only talking about it possibly being a reason to leave off the S, not the entire name.
Logo is pretty awesomeName sucks... but the best logo in all of sport
Or, “....took a mammoth dump on the....” when they play very well.I look forward to the “Utah took a mammoth dump” when they get heavily outplayed
Mickey Mouse franchise that won a cup before the Sharks which, I'll concede is a great team name, for all the good it's done them. It's to remind their fanbase that they are a Mickey Mouse franchise and will never escape that.
Penguins certainly move slowly on land, but they can “fly” under water. If they ran as fast as elephants, it's still faster than hockey players skate... and still significantly faster than a penguin can walk or swim....
The big 4 North American leagues are no longer going to copy another's team name. Last were the Panthers in the mid 90's. Been 30 years. Cardinals, Giants were at one point in the same city. Aside from them it's the Rangers, Jets, and Kings. It’s fine, but Raptors was always the best choice.
