When those FSB agents who did the Salisbury poisonings went on Russian telly to claim they were only visiting Salisbury for the day to see the famous cathedral spire and quoted its exact height as if they'd read it off wikipedia would have been the funniest thing ever if someone hadn't died as a result of what they did.
I drive through Salisbury sometimes when I'm on the way to or from my parents' house and I see the cathedral and think to myself "There's the world famous 123 metre tall spire!"

The thing people don't understand about Putin's Russia is they just don't care if they get caught and it doesn't matter if they're absolutely shite.
Best case scenario was they succeed in poisoning the target and don't get caught. Worst case scenario is they both fail and get caught but it doesn't matter because they know there's nothing the West can do about it and they have the gall to play the plausible deniability card and they're laughing at us because they know it will still scare us that they can do pretty much what they like without consequence so it's still a win for them.
