So...I've never had this happen before, but the president of the company I used to work for reached out to me and wants to have lunch tomorrow (we both live in the same town.) I have no idea what it's about, could just be about catching up/networking, but I was admittedly intrigued and definitely took him up on it.

Dude is CTO of a new company. Wants me to join. Already offered me the equivalent of $25,000/year more than I make right now and I haven't even formally interviewed yet. I'd have my own team, with people working under me, which is great because I want to move into the supervisor realm sooner rather than later due to my age. Is this real life?

The problem is that due to my personal/family situation I might not even be able to do it. But holy hell am I going to try to see if I can work this out. Switching from research to software engineering 11 years ago was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
