"try to sort this array"

yeah how?

the way they're worded is dumb too. "GIVEN ONE ARRAY OF CHARACTERS [A,B,C,D,D,D,D,E,F] AND ONE ARRAY OF NUMBERS [1,2,3,4,5] MANIPULATE THEM SO THAT NO DUPLICATES EXIST

how the f*** i supposed to do that

"Can you solve this logic puzzle"

no, why would i need to

would i even use it in the workplace

"Can you memorize the periodic table"

no i can't, it's already set up in the workplace

that's why math is so dumb

it's a f***ing job interview, not Who wants to be a Millionaire or JEopardy

leav eyour f***ing quiz shows elsewhere

Did I tell you about the company that wanted me to solve the puzzle about the water in 2 jugs being equal, but turns out they just took it from Die Hard 3

The test isn't to see if you already know everything, it's more of a "let's make sure we aren't interviewing a mouth-breathing idiot" check.

Judging by your confusion, it seems to be working

What do you think they should be asking you on an interview?

They are testing your ability to think and work under pressure.

I'm not defending that interview question because I kind of do think it's stupid.

Well that went as good as I had figured

First of all they had to enable the webcam

Second of all they triggered a screenshare so I hadto share my browser with so many tabs open including the UT lirl

Third of all the question didn't make sense. "We need you to figure out this issue. Johnny does 1 exercise a day. How many does he do for x days."

Input number of total exercises

insert number of exercises per day

"Write the function"

Well, in your example if he did 10 exercises for 1 day he would do 10 exercises would he not?

Example: He did 5 days of exercises.

NO HE DIDN'T

HE DID 10 DAYS.

At this point I just wrote some increment operator crap in the function and pressed finish. The test was 33 minutes long and it took me 3 minutes until I got flustered and rage quit

These exams are stupid and a waste of my precious time

Now back to taking naps, watching youtube videos, and prepping for the bar run later

INT HE WORKPLACE SOMEONE APPROACH ZAIDE AND GOES "PRESUME A NUMBER OF WIDGETS OF AMOUNT Y."

f***ing biased ass tilted f***ing stupid exams, and it's not just the job exams too, all the school exams for engineering are written like that. speak english.

"LET THERE BE A AMOUNT OF WIDGETS OF VARIETY X"

I'm seriously not in the mood for this shit. These exams are so f***ing stupid and pointless. And people like @LarryFisherman are going to defend them because they weed out idiots.

I left school and engineering in particular to AVOID those kind of tests

And I'm not even sure how you even prepare for them. You need like to unlock a whole different tier of crit thinking to do that shit. f*** that.

Coding exams are the worst waste of time ever. And I read what you said. "How else is companies supposed to assess talent." I don't know, how about talking to people. But no, pose a hypothetical online and not only that, go through numerous hoops to verify identity. "IS THIS YOU? PUT YOUR FACE IN THE CAMERA. SHOW ME YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE'

i'm taking a test here, not driving a vehicle
