After speaking to him about it more, it definitely is. He makes commission-only by getting people to sign up to Alzheimer's research subscriptions and getting paid per sale, working for an "agent" company who get paid from the charity's marketing budget. It's a pyramid scheme because how you actually make money is by getting promoted to "leadership" and having the constant turnover of exploited staff working underneath you and taking a cut of their sales.

My friend has delusions of grandeur and thinks he'll work his way up to the point where he will get to run his own office

It's also one of those "jobs" where you are technically self-employed but you still have to do what they tell you

So it's the worst of both worlds because you don't actually get any holiday pay or actual employment rights either
