I believe rangers can win a lot of games with Halek. We just need to either score like 10 goals a game or just 1 goal but give up 0 shots against. Either way we can win.
That Terry goal…excellent shot but if you look at halak’s positioning, he wasn’t square. He was well off to the side leaving a big open space. Had he been square, maybe the shot hits him. Also, he looked to be taking a bit of a wander before the play came back his way. Which is why he was out of position to begin with. All in all, just sloppy.Anaheim may be bad but they still have some good players. No team can be taken for granted. Gibson was already playing out of his mind last night and after Halak gave up that Kulikov goal we were chasing the game. The third by Terry was a much better shot but still Halak should have had a better angle on that. A two goal cushion for your opponent leaves you open to more counterattacking if you start pressing the play. It just makes it easier for the other team to make it harder on you in the neutral zone and if Gibson needed a boost to his confidence that the game was there for him to win he had it then. 0-5-1 is a horrendous start. Halak's save % stinks. Another thing to factor is if the team has confidence with Jaroslav in net. I know I'm not feeling it.
Would Domingue do better? It's not like he's tearing up the AHL. Going with something that isn't working clearly isn't good strategy. Do we give Halak another chance or two? I'll say if we do---he's on a countdown and running out of chances. If he doesn't start winning he needs to be dumped no ifs, ands or buts. He clearly is a big reason in last night's loss.
I know. Why isn't the team scoring 6 goals every game!??If the team wasn’t trash at scoring goals we wouldn’t have an issue
Lack of scoring isn't an excuse for bad goals he is giving up in every startIf the team wasn’t trash at scoring goals we wouldn’t have an issue
Way to quote out of context.3 bad goals is a good game?
Yea, the Anaheim broadcast mentioned that the team seemed to be fighting harder for lose pucks than they had been in the past few games and they could smell a win. The Halak goals were less so disheartening for our guys than more uplifting for Anaheim to raise their game instead of rolling over on D and in the cornersThe Kulikov goal was a huge stab in the back for the Rangers. You could see a lot of mojo go out of them being on a back to back and all and Anaheim getting belief that this game might actually be the ONE, their first regular win of the season.
Halak made some very nice saves later on but by then the damage was done.
Against Anaheim ? Yeah we should be scoring 6 easilyI know. Why isn't the team scoring 6 goals every game!??
This!Dissenting view here, i believe he'll be fine, they havent helped him much, and i'd rather they not burn resources on a replacement
Thats pretty cold. This is the guy that always shut us out, correct? This is going to be Halak's last season playing at this level. No one will give him a contract next year. I doubt he cuts it as an AHL goalie either.
He shut us out when he was an Islander but everyone does , that system kills is. Also that was several years ago, he was quite terrible in Vancouver and it’s obvious he’s washed up now.Thats pretty cold. This is the guy that always shut us out, correct?
Don't think he is just gonna suck all of a sudden for no reason.
Not like he cannot handle the NY pressure. Yeah, he's been pretty unpredictable/certainly not steady.
Been making some great saves which shows he's capable, but question what's going on in his head.
Gotta believe he will be fine, therefore NO UPGRADE, just for the sake of doing something.
Team needs to be better in front of him (like they have been) and if he could just make the saves he is supposed to make, then we will be fine.
Bump........So very many badly aged posts. Many need to apologize, lol.He shut us out when he was an Islander but everyone does , that system kills is. Also that was several years ago, he was quite terrible in Vancouver and it’s obvious he’s washed up now.
Whoever wanted Halak gone...

This!
I also said we didn’t really need to panic and replace him. He’s not that good but he’s still enough to play once every 2 weeks against weak competition. Vezina numbers indeedBump........So very many badly aged posts. Many need to apologize, lol.
He now has a 2.56 GAA, and a .908 save pctg. Quite a bit better than his first 5 or 6 games. In regard to Vancouver, yeah our Rangers "should be" quite a bit better defensively than the Nucks'. Don't believe he is washed up, still a better choice over Georgie boy.
