Rangers fans are so f***ing spoiled with goaltending that if you're not putting up a .935 save% you're garbage. How about the team in front of the goalie actually does something for once?
Right. Back up goaltenders all suck. You have to outscore their suckiness. We never do that. Blame the offense.

That 1.77 GSAE must bet better than almost every Igor game this season.

The upgrade is called Igor Shesterkin, hopefully he plays 50-60 games.

I truly don't know how any fan could watch last night's game and think Halak was the problem. He basically stole them a point. When your backup goalie plays that well, you need to win.

Not to mention they've only scored 4 goals total in support of him in the 4 games he's played. He sucked in the Columbus game but he played solid vs the Jet, Isles and Red Wings. He easily should be 2-2 at worst right now based on his play. His only real stinker was the Columbus game.

When Halak broke his stick first thing in my mind was “ I feel you dude, not your fault”

I felt more bad for him than the team losing which they deserved to, but he stole a point for them, which was a common tale a lot last season with Shesty.

We need a solution here. Halak was awful tonight.
he gave up one bad goal, a terrible one. But only getting 2 against Anaheim is like getting shutout against anyone else. If you need your 37 year old backup to steal you a game against the worst team in the NHL, that means you suck.

.864 save percentage is not going to win you many games. I half expected Igor to come out for the third period. We need to move on from Halak. Zero wins in five games. You have to be able to at least win 20% of your games as a backup.
He is .883 for the season.

i agree, but Halak is awful. getting competent backup is something that's beyond an original 6 franchise i suppose.

A reason Halak dones not have any wins. He is not that good anymore. Should have retired last year. He is in denial that he is still NHL level of goaltending.

0 wins 0.881 Sv%

get this guy out of here ASAP and call up Domingue and let Garand play more in Hartford.

3 bad goals is a good game?
Exactly. The Kulikov goal was horrendous and at least one of the other two should have been stopped.
There were some very good saves too. But all-in-all - in the same situation - Igor gives up one goal and a decent goalie gives up two. Not to say the rangers shouldn’t have scored more. But the difference in this one is clearly the goaltending.

The Kulikov goal was a huge stab in the back for the Rangers. You could see a lot of mojo go out of them being on a back to back and all and Anaheim getting belief that this game might actually be the ONE, their first regular win of the season.

Halak made some very nice saves later on but by then the damage was done.
