T.O.
I can state with absolute certainty that most of the posters who are saying they'd have waited for Friday would be equally upset and would wonder why we waited so long.

Comparing to last year's Tarasenko for a first Rd. The rags also received a 6'5" dman that plays 18-20 min a game for that pick.

Comparing to Giroux or Kane doesn't even make sense to me, I don't know how to respond to that.

I am extremely disappointed with the outcome, was hoping for significantly more than that. I just can't assess Staios' GM skills on this trade.

Hf Sens in shambles over a 2nd vs a 3rd. Not a good return, but the market dictates what you are offered. Move the UFA for what you can get under the circumstances.

Interested to see what else transpires this deadline now that the most obvious piece of business is done.

The going to shambles isn't really over the difference between a 2nd or 3rd, it's because this is our first indication of the kind of GM Staois is going to be, and this is a fanbase that's been through some shit under Dorion.

It's not fair to Staois, but that's the reality of the job he accepted. The fanbase is on edge and this deal - even if it's defensible - doesn't inspire confidence.

as i said previously

Chychrun won't be moved because the difference between the return this year vs next won't be significant

I'm hoping that this is an indication that Staios is going to be a prudent, methodical GM who focuses on finding the right players for this team rather than being a name chaser who wants to get headlines on TSN.ca.

Dorion wanted to operate like he was early 00's Glen Sather running the Rangers.

I want Staios to be the 1999 version of Marshall Johnston.

Ottawa traded Mark Stone 1 minute before the TDL and got fleeced. Waiting means nothing

Exactly. If this was Dorion he would have tossed in his own 4th with Tarasenko.

Trauma response is real no doubt. Not an impressive trade. Hopefully some of these middle round picks can be parlayed into a roster player over the summer.

Will be lucky to get another mid round pick for Brann/Kubalik. Not much else to move unless it's Chyc or or something surprising.

If a Chychrun trade happens at the deadline and the return is low, that would raise more questions.

That's irrelevant. Keep Tarasenko for the year or wait until crunch time for the Panthers to offer more. The fact that he retained 50% is the cherry on top of this stupid ****** move.

It's not a good return but this idea that Staios only needed to do This One Simple Trick to get a first round pick or a good prospect is just unrealistic given the restrictions and circumstances.

Reasonable trade.

Not sure what you expect when the player is a UFA, has a NMC, and is on a crap team. he has 41 points, not 61. And who cares if they retain on an expiring deal? Tarasenko wasn't their signing and they got not one, but two picks

They got the donuts? Excellent....
His job involves convincing him. Tank has been a good dude. Don’t pretend he’s all of a sudden a strict ass.

Convincing him? He clearly only wanted to play where his family is. You're not going to convince him otherwise.

Bryan Murray was revered because he sometimes would do what's best for the player instead of maximizing the return. It's a shame that lesson seems to be lost on many here.
