From my POV, that answer on the LD and Chychrun, and dealing with other teams, seems like Chychrun may certainly be a guy Staois is dealing with regards to trades

Don Boyd is our head Amateur Scout this season, as expected

Yikes on Don Boyd. I know it was many years ago, but Columbus drafted really poorly under his leadership.

Not sure what to make of that since it was 20 years ago, but he's been a scout with the Sens for the last 9 years.
I just looked at the first round guys and I think they suffered from being in the mushy middle a bit, some years there just wasn't a lot of great options where they picked. Zherdev and Brule are the only drafts where Imo you really wish they grabbed another guy that went in the next couple, in Brule's case it was Kopitar 5 spots later, or maybe setoguchi

It's not the kind of drafting record that gets you another head scouting job. Case in point, he was passed over multiple times by the Sens when they promoted from within.

I get why he's been put in charge this year. Dorion fired his head scout in July and somehow never replaced him, leaving Staios without much of a choice. Boyd at least knows how to do the job. This isn't a complaint, more a statement of concern.

would be a mistake to trade Chychrun….. every effort should be made to get his signature on a multi year extension…… so unless he indicates that will not happen, or his demands are out of reach, there should be no “shopping around” of JC.

Columbus Drafts 2000-2006 While Boyd was Dir of Amateur Scouting... Not impressive .. Doug Maclean was the GM in that time so hopefully that explains it. Check out that 2001 8th round pick haha

You think Dir. of Professional Scouting is more executive experience than Dir. of Hockey Operations?

No one said they needed to hire someone 1 week before training camp. But why did they appoint a guy with no NHL experience as POHO to the position? Why did he just make himself the GM after interviewing no one instead of leaving the interim tag and waiting until the offseason to conduct a search for highly qualified candidates? Why did he promote the Assistant General Manager to Associate General Manager?

Anyway, as I said in an earlier post, I don't have any more to add to this specific conversation and I'm not going to keep repeating the same points over and over again. This whole thing f***ing stinks and the only thing I can actually judge for his quality of work is the handling of the DJ firing, which was horribly executed in almost every conceivable way.
I doubt you will do it because you clearly have your wild bias's in full swing here. But did you listen to the presser Staios did today? It shows a true professional evaluating a team properly. Managing the media properly, understanding this is a process. No panicking and being methodical.

I just cant wrap my head around the people who defend the previous regime then chastise this one. Its like you dont want the team to be competitive. Stockholm syndrome maybe?

He said the market will dictate whether you make a move, and if he doesn’t find the right fit they’ll try again in the summer. I don’t think he’s in a rush, just a general statement of what the team needs.

So basically we can expect LESS moves than Dorion used to make? Dear Alfie, finally.

Staios is kind of like Putin,

He gets the interim job and then he appoints himself the official GM.

Staios might end up being a really good GM and I have some confidence in that, but the optics are hilarious.

If it goes well then everyone will praise Andlauer and Staios' good judgement.

If Staios does not work out people will be screaming bloody murder. Nepotism hire, Staios doesn't even wait until the end of the season to crown himself king instead of actually looking for an experienced GM. People will hate Andlauer and Staios more than they did Dorion and Melnyk.

I'm guessing his next press conference Staois will come in riding a horse, huge cowboy hat with no shirt on holding a cross bow.

Happens a lot, just happened with Dubas.

Makes even more sense when it's something that came on because of what was happening midseason in Ottawa

Less moves, probably not a controversy every other day. It’s about to get more boring around here in the best way possible.

We would have been better off if Dorion made 50% of the moves he made. So a more thoughtful approach is welcomed rather than a casino madman approach

Wasn't it because he was already the President of Hockey Operations?

Decent presser and obviously he can't tell us too much but Dave Poulin's presence in this org is a mystery. He didn't say anything and he wasn't asked anything...the media should have been on him like hungry dogs on red meat. Hopefully he gets some pressure from hereon in.

Pressure on what? What burning questions are left unanswered that you feel aren't being addressed by the media?
