I wish we could wish good riddance to angry screamers that start off posts with LMFAO. That would be awesome.

Let's keep this thread about the current management and leave the Dorion/DJ/Melnyk shit out of it. That would be great.

Practice what you preach. You whine about stuff all day, welcome to a message board.

Vegas hired McPhee to be their first GM, a guy with a lot of experience as a GM and in other executive roles in the NHL.

Seattle hired Francis to be their first GM, a guy with experience as a GM and a lot of other executive roles.

Before Brisebois was named GM of Tampa, he had been with Montreal for over 6 years in different executive roles including Director of Hockey Ops, VP of Hockey Ops and GM of the AHL team. He joined Tampa as an AGM and managed their farm team, hired Jon Cooper and worked as an AGM for 8 years before he got the big job.

Jim Nill was a Director of Player Development for 4 years and an AGM in Detroit for 15 years before he left to be the GM of Dallas.

Yzerman was VP of Hockey Ops for 4 years and was the GM of Team Canada for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver before he became a GM in Tampa.

It doesn't need to be a name, it needs to be someone with executive experience at the NHL level. Darche and Tulsky have executive experience in roles that are heavily involved in front office affairs, not just vague special assistant titles.
Bowness has more experience than Darche.
Vegas and Seattle had an over a year to hire a GM, not 1 week before training camp lol.

Poulin on Overdrive:

"We need to see this team healthy and then evaluate what we have."

"We have a lot of talented pieces, but how do they fit together?"

"A lot of the things Vancouver was dealing with last year (pre-Tocchet), we're dealing with right now. I give the coaching a lot of credit. You look at guys like Mikheyev or Miller, they're different players, playing hard and backchecking."

Very similar takeaway to what others have said: We have a talented but poorly constructed team that hasn't been coached, is lazy, and has little mental toughness.

O'Dog on Ottawa: "Someone needs to go in there and pull a Tocchet. Tell the players, it's my way or the highway. Because they've tried it their way, and they suck."

You think Dir. of Professional Scouting is more executive experience than Dir. of Hockey Operations?
Vegas and Seattle had an over a year to hire a GM, not 1 week before training camp lol.
No one said they needed to hire someone 1 week before training camp. But why did they appoint a guy with no NHL experience as POHO to the position? Why did he just make himself the GM after interviewing no one instead of leaving the interim tag and waiting until the offseason to conduct a search for highly qualified candidates? Why did he promote the Assistant General Manager to Associate General Manager?

Anyway, as I said in an earlier post, I don't have any more to add to this specific conversation and I'm not going to keep repeating the same points over and over again. This whole thing f***ing stinks and the only thing I can actually judge for his quality of work is the handling of the DJ firing, which was horribly executed in almost every conceivable way.

Try to be respectful. A great New Year’s resolution

Right back at you champ.
You jumped into something that you weren’t involved in and simply attacked me.
Coladin and I have lots of positive interactions and I like a lot of his posts, respect him as a poster, and I’m sure he knows that without you as his white knight.
Try to take your own advice for YOUR New Year’s resolution, I know everyone here would appreciate that nice change of pace.

If Staios and Poulin can't fix this quickly and correctly then show them to the door.
I don't want to hear Staios and Poulin milking these positions for years and still saying"well we are still observing and evaluating, and we have a lot injuries blah blah blah.... Andlauer hired them to do the job now go out and do it. These guys should be good at reading the room and not being tone deaf.
Our team already has a lot of good pieces that I think other teams want and if you have to package 1 or 2 assets to acquire a need that we have. Everyone knows what we need to make this team better we are clearly lacking in certain areas. Now it is their job to go out and do it. We do not need, or have the patience in Ottawa as a fan base for another "blow it up" event. We are about 4 right moves away from being an excellent team. It is their job to make these right moves.....go out and do it. Get creative and make it happen so that by the end of the season you are demonstrating to the fanbase that you have taken the next step as a management team. Is it easy? No it isn't. We have talent on this team. The fine tuning will have to be precise. But that is why they get payed the big bucks.

Hasn’t won a Cup!

(I love Dave Poulin and have since he Captained the Flyers in the 87 Cup final. If I remember Tim Kerr was injured Poulin played so hard and took the Oilers to 7 games

Steve to ad a mid season press conference at 10:15
On twitter, someone asked if it was going to clarify Staios's French-radio interview comments.

This press conference was anticipated, but does anyone know what Staios said on the radio?

Wonder if Staois has a girlfriend?

Not even “a girlfriend” but “the girlfriend”
we have to give that guy a break.. He's been gone for 3 months. It is unlikely we will cross paths with him gain.

we need to move on.

This is the worst possible time of year for a bad team to be looking for these things. Just wait until the summer. Save your powder.
