NESN UPDATE - NESN’s Jack Edwards announces retirement

Opposed to doing what? A business owes you nothing. If they put out a bad product you stop giving them your money.

If everything we pay for was immune to all criticism except withholding payment, this site wouldn't exist. Jack is a public figure with a large media presence both on and off the screen, and he is well paid for it. As such, the performance of his job is open to critique. We owe him his personal privacy in what is obviously a difficult time, but his public performance is fair game.

While I agree, I'm a fan of the Boston Bruins - not NESN. The only way I can watch them play is on NESN. If I was out of market, I could control what broadcast I watch on ESPN plus and could avoid him if I chose to.

NESN should concentrate on the iffy "quality" of the broadcast itself, the picture and especially the sound is poor most of the time. Not to mention, the picture cuts out and becomes pixelated many times.

I kinda see it like the all star and awards theory, where some say you don't get the credit the first year you deserve it, but on the back end you get the credit a year longer than you should.

Jack Edwards, as rough as he's been this season, IMO has earned the leeway and ability to do things on his terms.

Personally, I loathe Jack Edwards and his shtick, so his performance gets no leeway from me. But his personal troubles are his personal troubles, and I leave those to him.

If I have to settle for Mikey Monaco calling Bruins games instead of taking Dave O’Briens job I can live with that

For those who don’t watch baseball he’s really good. Have no idea how he is at hockey but I’d imagine there isn’t drop off

Jacks a legend, I hate to see this happen with him. He’s my generations voice of the Bruins. I have a lot of great memories tied to his calls.

Monaco in for O’Brien
Faust in for Jack

Boom NESN PBP dynasty in the making.

ESPN has been using Monaco for the NHL and he is fine.

If NESN wants Monaco for the Sox they have to pull the trigger now as he appears to be the #1 choice for the White Sox job.

Read somewhere that Goucher is completely happy in Vegas...golf in midday and hockey games at night.

Too bad...he is an awesome TV guy...

HOWEVER - The VGK TV situation is a mess as their RSN went belly up and all non-network games are now on free OTA channels that do not provide the revenue a RSN can.
