NESN UPDATE - NESN’s Jack Edwards announces retirement

As far as I remember, he started slurring his words about 3 seasons ago but it wasn't that noticeable. But these past two seasons, it's been very noticeable and it's getting worse.

For me its the random tangents. Like he will spout off about something completely irrelevant for a minute and you're kind of waiting for some sort of punch line that doesn't happen. You're just kind of left there like

I assume Jack finishes the season, maybe taking a couple scheduled weekend/road trip breaks, but no matter how it goes the rest of the way I will look back on his time very fondly. I'll always remember Jack Edwards as PRIME Jack Edwards.

Curious if Jacks interview with Ray Bourque the other night has anything to do with this decision. That was tough to watch.

It seemed to be on Ray. Jack clearly adores the guy. I was glad they had their moment together and again, I liked it.

This is a brutal back-to-back for an Eastern team leaving tomorrow and coming back on Saturday. I enjoy Winnipeg and St Paul but it is too compressed. A big issue is US Customs in Winnipeg is always an issue late at night as they rotate agents from North Dakota.

I still say the best thing is to have Faust become the new PBP man and give Jack an unscripted Coach's Corner type segment with Sophia during the intermission.

The problem is, as bad as his PBP calling is, he seems to struggle even more when going off script and with the interview format. The recent Bourque interview, and previously when Lucic was in the booth. It was painful. (All respect to Jack though. He made other fanbases seethe like no other. And was an excellent PBP guy for years.)
