Why didn’t we sign Matt Bradley

I was asking myself that question last year when they let his rights expire. I haven't watched enough of him to know exactly what he's like. But there must have been something about his game they weren't impressed with. Maybe some weaknesses they were asking him to work on that he didn't improve on? They drafted him as a center but this year with Regina, hes on the wing.

Bradley is almost 21 and is 1.15 PPG in the WHL. That's really not very good. Much higher producing junior players who never make the NHL are a dime a dozen. No one else signed Bradley either. Look at Brady Vail these days, we didn't sign him and he's still in the ECHL years later.

One thing I'm looking forward to is actually following some legit prospects over the next few years. We can likely add another pick or two in the top two rounds, then hopefully start to build up 2019 picks too. What we have now is sad.

He currently leads the QMJHL with 91 points in 47 games, second place is Alexander Alain with 62 points in 47 games. Barré-Boulet currently is 20 and undrafted, which makes him an Ufa if I'm not mistaken, will/should the habs sign him. Second place is also 20 years old.

He is a centre, left shot, however he is small. 5'9/5'10 ~180lbs

Why is this a thread on the Habs board? The Habs don't draft good local talent. They just overpay for them in ridiculous trades once they prove to be disappointing.

Edit: Didn't read the OP the first time around, just seeing that he is undrafted.

Barre-Boulet has been signed by Vegas I think. But a guy that I want is Olivier Galipeau. He is by far the best d-man in the Q this year

eliteprospects.com doesn't have Barre-Boulet signed or affiliated with any NHL team. thehockeynews.com doesn't list him among Vegas prospects either. Did he sign recently? Luchuk signed with Ottawa on boxing day. Winger Nikita Korostelev from the Peterborough Petes would be the top scoing UFA from the OHL (45gp, 20g, 34a, 54pts, 36pim). He was originally drafted by Toronto in the 7th round 2015.

I know around the Holidays, he was rumored to be signing with Tampa. But nothing yet. Either it fell through or they're still in negotiations. I do hope Habs are involved in some way to explain why he hasn't signed anywhere yet.

All i can find is that he went to vegas' development camp. Cant find any where saying he signed or is knight's property?

Recently watched University of Alaska Fairbanks who have a D prospect of our. Nikolas Koberstein selected in the 5th round 12th ovreally is doing alright for himself in his 3rd year, 11 points in 27 games but he is...on one of the worst teams in the Ncaa. My interest I'd on his captain Zach Frye who is undrafted but has 24 points in 26 games, Kylar Hope with 19 points in 25 games and Steven Jandric with 18 points in 27 games. Hope and Jandric are both forwards of decent size with good upside so far and Frye is a left handed D that is 6'1". Frye is in his senior year while Hope is in his second and Jandric in his 1st. Having seen them play a few times, it seems that they may be worth signing or at least inviting to training camps although Frye has attended San Jose training camp as early as this past year.

highest ufa scorer in OHL is Aaron Luchuk has 73 points in 48 games also a 5'10 centre
WHL is Brayden Burke again 5'10 centre, however he is 21, 97 pts, 48 games

I spoke about Burke in a previous post. He's 21 since January 1st. Two seasons ago, he had 109 points in 72 games played. So his scoring ways isn't only attributed to him being an overager this year. He was putting up a lot of points even when he was the same age as everyone else.

Barre-Boulet only went to Vegas' camp. They never signed him. But around the holidays, there were reports that he was close to signing with Tampa. But since that report, nothing else. He hasn't signed with them yet, though.

Galipeau would be an interesting player they can sign as a defenseman. I never watched him but looking at his stats, he was always able to put up points on the board.

Some interesting names in the NCAA too, 6'3 LHD Daniel Brickley (was interesting last season, still wondering why he didn't sign anywhere), 6'1 LDH Jimmy Schuldt (who plays with Jake Evans at St.Cloud's), 6'3 LH winger Sebastian Vidmar (I think he's more of a complimentary winger with size, and not sure he can create much by himself, but still...)

BUT, I can't really say anything, as I haven't seen any of them, apart from some vids of Brickley last season.

Anyone seen them, or any other perhaps more interesting NCAA UFAs ?

Evans is at Notre Dame, Poehling is Schuldt's teammate. I have seen a lot of the NCAA FA's this year. I would strongly go after Evans's teammate Cale Morris. I know the last thing we need is a goalie prospect but he's having a great year and maybe Evans can talk him into joining him in Laval. Notre Dame has several interesting FA's. Jordan Gross, Andrew Oglevie (long time linemate of Jake Evans, has been moved to center this year), Cal Burke (plays with Evans this year), and while he never panned out as I thought he would, I still keep an eye on Dylan Malmqquist who was a standout player in the Minnesota USHS.

As for Schuldt, while I would be interested in him, I kind of like his teammate better, Robby Jackson who is Poehling's linemate. He's got one heck of a release and is the current leading scorer on SCSU. He was at our development camp last summer with Schuldt and Poehling.

Brickley would be a nice target...Never see him play but he puts good numbers! Another guy who's putting decent number for a d-man in NCAA is Alec Rauhauser...Never heard of him!

Rauhauser will likely get an NHL contract I would think, haven't seen him though as he plays in the 2nd weakest conference in the NCAA. The same one as Koberstein.

Montreal needs to get on the Bajkov train ASAP. Best overager in the CHL, bar none. So skilled it's crazy.

He didn't get drafted because he only scored 1 more point in his draft than the year before, so people were worried about his progression, but that was the year Everett played the trap and won every game 1-0 or 2-1. He progressed a LOT that year. Juulsen went from 52 pts to 28 pts that year.

81 pts in 54 games right now.

I thought he got drafted. I wanted Sokolov and Bajkov badly with our late picks.
