Surely Habs have their eyes on them as well.

Schuldt has matched his point total from last season at 19 points. He did it in 36 games last year, he reached it in 13 games this year. I'd like to see them sign him as soon as he's done with his NCAA season.

Montreal will have competition in signing him for sure & we never seem to do well when that happens. We usually go for the quieter signings.

The fact that he's been to our camps could be a big factor in our favour. It would be nice if we won one of these college signings. I figure we're due.

This was brought up on the prospect board but thought it was worth attention. 2 undrafted UFA's that might be of interest, Devin Brosseau and Sheldon Rempal. They play for Clarkson who is having a great year so far. Brosseau is a local kid but the main reason I could see the Habs being interested is that they would have scouted them last year when they were Freshman since they ended up inviting/signing their teammate Jordan Boucher also a local kid.

We've had bad luck with Clarkson prospects in the past (from the whole ECAC really) but both guys are worth keeping an eye on for sure. I'd add Jordan Gross and Jimmy Schuldt to that list , who have both been mentioned on this thread before. Cale Morris is definitely getting a lot of attention too ( but we're not really hurting for goalies) .

all guys I would be interested in seeing us get. Gross and or Schuldt since we need D prospects for Laval next year. Morris in case they trade Lindgren at some point in a package. I like what I've seen from Boucher so if he keeps it up he may earn a contract. Paquet didn't work out as our last prospect from Clarkson but it makes some sense with Brosseau being a local kid and that the scouts would have seen him last year and I'm sure they know what both are doing this year since Clarkson is ranked 3rd in the NCAA. I know they smoked Hawkey for 8 goals in 2 games.

QMJHL's top scorer, Blainville's Alex Barré-Boulet close to signing with the Lightning it seems...

1. Why would an overager sign with the team with arguably the best forward prospect pool in the whole league?
2. ****ing Lightning. Why isn't Yzerman fluent in French FFS...
3. I drafted Barré-Boulet as a late rounder in this board's mock 2 years ago. Glad to see him doing this well!

When you get a track record for developing prospects, especially offensive prospects, you're going to get more weight with prospects.

When was the last time we won on a big name free agent prospect? Lindgren and Carr weren't exactly commanding bidding wars, they were just good finds by our scouting staffs.

Sekac?

Although, considering how that turned out, it sure doesn't help our track-record. Sekac is doing pretty good in the KHL this year, as a side note. I really liked him on the Habs.

I liked him, too and he had a good playoffs with Anaheim.

I think it was those off ice issues that put him out of the league, not the fact he wasn't a good player capable of playing in the NHL.

Have we ever heard the full story on these supposed off-ice issues?

There had to be something going on.

I would say it's more BriseBois than Yzerman. Especially that if they sign him, he will go to Syracuse that is overseen by JB. He speaks French. ;)

Watching Moose Jaw vs. Brandon on Sportsnet now. I'm wondering how come Brayden Burke was never drafted. I know he's small, but he's been dynamite offensively for the last few years in the WHL.

In 2015-16 with Lethbridge, he had 109 points in 72 games.
In 2015-16, split between Lethbridge and Moose Jaw, he had 82 points in 61 games.
And so far this year, with Moose Jaw, he currently has 71 points in 36 games.

He is an overager now, he will turn 21 on January 1st. However, he's been a scoring machine for a few seasons now. He is on the smaller side (5'11 and 165 lbs). So maybe that's why?

He's already attended the Flames' camp. But they never signed him.

Why... because we never learn. See Habs v. Debrincat

Why would a team struggling for years to find true snipers sign and develop one without giving up their best prospects.

Yes... dripping with disgust and sarcasm at Habs mgmt scouting and player "development"

What kind of quality does this year's undrafted free agent crop offer? Any guys that will make an impact at the NHL right away, or are we looking at guys who are likely going to bide some time in the minors?

Posters have talked about signing Poehling's teammate Jimmy Schuldt and rightly so but I suggest they keep a really close eye on the other teammate that was also invited to our development camp last summer. Robby Jackson is Poehling's linemate and while he's undersized, he's got one heck of a shot as his release is sick, leads SCSU in goals, 2nd in points.

Why not both?

Does an NHL team have a limit to how many ELC's they sign players to?

I would sign both, although both are Juniors so maybe Jackson stays for his Senior year as he's 20 and doesn't turn 21 till a month or so before next season. He could remain on Poehling's line and then the two of them could go to Laval together after next season. Schuldt is 22 and turns 23 in May so while he can return for his Senior year, he might look to turn pro since he's getting older and might be hard pressed to do much better then he's already doing.
