Anyone know anything about Alexander Yelesin from the KHL? He’s a top KHL defender who just told his team he intends on trying to make it in the NHL.

Leafs were scouting him in January, since he's a RHS and they're desperate for RD. He's not an offensive D. He likes to hit and has a few fights under his belt even in the KHL.

Can't see Montreal having much interest.

and beside the Canadiens, rumours about Yelesin calmed down a bit since that report in January. But he was playing with so much grit in the KHL that i can image some team giving him an offer ...

what about some swedish dman for the habs? Djuse? Lerby? Kinnvall?

I think we have to remember that UDFAs are free agents and can choose to sign anywhere. If the Habs miss on guy, it's not necessarily because they didn't scout him or didn't show interest. Could be that the guy just chose to go elsewhere. Been seeing a lot of "we should have signed this guy or that guy" talk. Who's saying the Habs didn't offer contracts to these guys? Perhaps the Habs had spoken to Huntington's agent and were told that he had no interest in signing with the Habs. This doesn't mean that the scouts aren't doing their job. Their job is to evaluate talent and report their findings to their superiors. It's up to Bergevin and his staff to sign/draft these kids. Not saying the Habs have the leagues best scouts, but it's hard to point the finger solely at them or Bergevin or Timmins. Remember the players have their say as well where they'd like to play.

Habs had shown interest in Verroneau last year and according to rumors, tried to get him to leave school. He signed in Ottawa this year.

This isn't the loophole since he'll be a Senior and can just opt to become a UFA on August 15th, 2020. The Canes hold his rights after getting him from the Flames. He's a RD that has put up very impressive numbers, this year he had more assists then anyone else on his team had points. If he opts not to sign, many teams will be highly interested imo.

Adam Fox opting not to sign with the CAnes, will play his senior year.

I heard on 91.9 that Fox is looking to test the market. He was supposed to be the key piece when the Canes acquired him in the Hanifin deal. The guy is supposed to be a quarterback and will be highly sought after.

Elite prospects has Schuldt with the Canadiens. Base the information off if rumours but he did attend our camp and played with Lindgren and Poehling as well as has a shot of playing with Weber.

He’d be a great add to our prospect pool.

Elite Prospects - transaction for Jimmy Schuldt

It's listed under their rumors page, they have some weak facebook link as the rumor.

it's smart as the Canes might not have room for him and he will get to chose where he wants to go cause I got to think most teams will be in on him.

I'd put the Isles in there as well, he's from long island and their new place will be about a 30 minute drive from his hometown.

yea but he'll have more of a shot with NYR and there's Vesey, who did the same thing left Havard after his Senior year, opted not to sign and went with NYR. Fox came in the year after Vesey left but I would think he kept up with some of his teammates and I would assume they have spoken a few times. I thought I read that he was a NYR fan as well, not sure if he had NYR pj's growing up though. :sarcasm:

''Who's pj's was he wearing '' has become the new scouting metric every team has to be aware of in 2019

Joakim Nygard was just now featured during TSN's Insider Trading segment during the first intermission of the Habs game:

It comes as little surprise that Nygard has been attracting attention this season. The 26-year-old forward is enjoying a career year in the SHL, skating on a line with Boston Bruins prospect Oskar Steen, the only Farjestad forward who has outscored him this season. Nygard played in all 52 regular season games this season, recording a career-high 21 goals and 35 points. Nygard finished second in the league goal-scoring race and helped to fuel his team to a top finish. Now he has to finish the job in the playoffs.

After that, he will be free to leave and it looks certain that he is headed to the NHL. In fact, Dreger states that Nygard’s camp has been receiving interest for months now and the move across the Atlantic has been a long time coming. He reports that several GM’s have checked in on Nygard over in Sweden this season, but says that the Flames and Senators specifically are “in hard”. Dreger also offers an NHL comparison for Nygard in Carl Hagelin, stating that Nygard’s skating ability is elite and he can “flat out fly”. The book on Nygard had been that he has the physical and technical tools down, but was still raw in his hockey sense and execution.

Clarkson was eliminated by Notre Dame tonight. So Nico Sturm is available to be signed.
Heard his name alot but i’m not too familiar other than stat watching him, whats his scouting report look like? Does he projects to be a center in the NHL, if so could he still be tempted by Montreal since we have alot of depth there in the NHL + AHL?

I haven't watch him, either. But reading some scouting reports, the term that is used mostly is he's a great two-way center.

I'd be surprised if he he signs with Montreal. I would be happy if he did. But I think Habs' priority is Poehling and possibly Schudlt from college. As well as looking into Major Junior for some undrafted players, as well.

I mean free assets that produced over a ppg in the NCAA are always welcomed! My point was, Domi, KK, danault, Poehling, Evans, Vejdemo, already in our pro system considering poehlings signs, not saying he’s not better than any of these cause i don’t know but it’s not too attractive to him? Unless they give him promesses!
