For those thinking this is a “god like” Price that has us down 2-0 they are watching a different game than me. Jets cannot get to the net, the Jets are not dangerous, the Jets seem like they lack any urgency at all.

If Price cares about water conservation, he doesn’t take a shower tonight...doesn’t need one.
Yup, 2 minutes of work....

I mean, the Habs are playing with house money at this point. Could argue we are too. It certainly feels like the winner of our series is gonna get stomped from here on out.
So is Boston and NYI playing with 'house money' too then...?

I would say that Connor stick swing classifies as not trying... Jets have had too much of that through the year

yes both teams were going for a boring nz trap
Game but the Jets had no transition and montreal did - that’s the difference

No, not trying is when you don't bother coming back at all -
It wasn't a great play but don't blame it on effort - it's a missed check - that kind of shit happens every so often in a game.

Montreal had transition because we don't defend as well as they do - that's their complete game.
If we are going to beat these guys, it'll be based on winning puck battles in their zone and getting the puck to the net along with a few bodies - we don't do that for some reason (although we seen hints of it in the third)

It's interesting to note, skill teams will struggle in this type of game - the skill is stifled and the grit isn't there. Ask the Leafs who didn't have an answer for it either.

The best line on the ice is the Perry line - they just go to the net and bang away - that's the game these guys play. Shut down the offense and pick up the garbage. It's horrible

Both teams were playing for a low score 1 nil game.

We let in the first goal but didn't come off the game plan until we tried to push for it in the third.

When both teams clog it up.and sit back it makes for very boring and dull hockey where it looks like players aren't trying but that is the game plan.

we need to score first if we intend to play like this the next two games.

We also need to be more effective in their end - meaning, go to the net and work on Price - PLD, Lowry and Copp should be setting up camp in Price's crease. That's what this series is now about - it'll be interesting to see if we are willing to do the stuff Perry does in front of the net.

What did we learn from the game tonight, Craig?

Agree. He could have been moved up to the first line.

Yes, Matty is leaving it all out there. I'd let him play any where he wants

Except he took a penalty and couldn’t clear the zone or make a pass to save his life. Finishing checks is nice but it doesn’t mean you’re playing well. He was more just skating hard around accomplishing nothing.

Which is more than most of them were doing - so all things considered, he played well.
Taking a penalty doesn't remove all of that

You think pointlessly skating around real hard and turning the puck over is accomplishing something? You’re forcing mistakes for the sake of looking useful as opposed to playing to not make mistakes.

Well, I am a realist, chances of coming back to win this series with two losses at home is slim to none. When I broke down this series with a group of friends in a chat I figured it would come down to which team defense was able to play their game better. I still believe our forwards have more depth in scoring, but we struggle to produce against teams with solid defense and solid goaltending.

Price is in a different world right now, our forwards are not producing.

Our D have to play more offensively and that causes break downs.

Also WTF was the backcheck on that goal tonight. GREAT FLY BYE from I believe it was Connor? Guess body or puck isn't a thing anymore.

Didn’t you hear? You can’t take the body on a back check anymore. It’s been deemed charging to skate that far.

No I don't think that - I also don't agree that was what his game amounted to tonight.
Let's put it this way - If I had to pick on players tonight, he isn't the one I would focus on -

You realize Perrault was demoted at one point right? He was part of the problem as much as anyone. Connor is being made the scapegoat because of that one play but a lot of other players were far worse.

They can’t find the front of the net with a road map and the odd time they do, the D couldn’t get a shot through if the puck was laser guided.

Its fascinating to me (well, more like aggravating tbh), is how so much of this teams game plan is to go low to high and have shots come from the point, yet they rarely have any kind of significant traffic in front of the net. It’s baffling.

Post-game media availability:

The Wheeler being a condescending ass bit is getting a bit old. If only a reporter had the jam to ask him why he thought his team played a “great” game, when they barely had a sniff of a scoring chance until the last 3:00 minutes of the game, including on the PP.

They didn’t play a great game, they were borderline terrible and that’s being generous.

Somewhere nice
Is the success of Wheeler and Connor really because of Scheifele?
How they doing without him, in the playoff alone?

A true 1C really makes a world of a difference.

Hopefully Jets can still bounce back here.

It was a 1 zero game.

Demoted?
IDK - maybe-
Looked to me like Mo was shuffling the lines to try and get something going -
I could be wrong - maybe he got shuffled because of that bad penalty - who knows?

I'll keep going back to the same point -
In this game, we looked really bad, everywhere other than in the net.
I could at least give Matty credit for working hard and taking the body -

I struggle finding anything positive from the rest of the them including the talent.
I've been defending KC tonight but he didn't have a good game - either did Ehlers who wasn't able to get anything going on zone entries or playmaking - he was neutered. Wheeler was a no show - completely invisible. PLD? don't get me started.

So there isn't much to talk about as far a positives - so I dug in deep and came up with Matty because he at least was showing some heart of there.
That's the extent of my argument - he played well IMO, all things considered.

We don't have to agree on this one Duke - I'm not saying I'm right - it's just my personal opinion.
