Both teams were playing for a low score 1 nil game.

We let in the first goal but didn't come off the game plan until we tried to push for it in the third.

When both teams clog it up.and sit back it makes for very boring and dull hockey where it looks like players aren't trying but that is the game plan.

we need to score first if we intend to play like this the next two games.
Why not open it up a little more thn? We have the advantage in firepower. And just like them we have a goalie who can bail us out.

if that game was played in front of fans the boo birds would of been out in full force and rightfully so.

I'm willing to bet that PLD has been nagged by something all year. My guess is that is groin is playing Jekyll and Hyde with him. His first couple games before he got hurt after the trade there was way more jump in his game. For PLD I'll reserve my judgement on the type of player the team has to how he comes in next season with some off season rehab.

Stanley is a rookie. He's in the lineup because he's the only big, physical defenseman the team has. While Heinola would likely move the puck better he would get hammered like Enstrom used to at the end of his career. Next season is Heinola season.

I agree with the poster who made the comment that game 2 shows very clearly how Scheifele is truly a top 10 center in this league. That he makes the guys around him offensively better night in and night out. While the ragging he took during the regular season for being defensively lazy was appropriate he's shown in these playoffs that he has that special extra gear needed to win in this league.

The Jets looked completely out of sorts in this one. There were too many changes to lines due to Scheif and Stas being out of the lineup. Throw in Demelo, who war arguably the most solid defensive player in round one, and there were big problems on D. While I think Poolman is an adequate 5 or 6 on this team, when he's playing on the top pairing you're in trouble.

That being said, a positive take I have from games 1 and 2 is that Montreal played arguably their best two games of the playoffs in these two, while the Jets played their worst, and they were both effectively one-goal games. The Jets can be better, even with the current depleted roster.

Morrissey did not look like a 1d last night. Maybe it’s like garret said demelo makes everyone look better and doesn’t get the respect he deserves around here. Also maybe Morrissey isn’t a true 1d.

Morrissey was gassed in the 3rd. At one point I thought he might lay down for a nap.

Im not sure Morrisey would be playing on any of the remaining teams top D pairings. He’s a good 2nd pairing guy, but not a player who is going to tilt the ice in his teams favour at all playing agaisnt the leagues top lines. Just compare his production and contribution to the game to a guy like Buff (who in my mind was criminally under rated while we had him) Its night and day. God I miss that guy now

This was by far the most boring game I've seen all season. Neither team looked particularly good and it came down to a deflection off a shorthanded shot with lazy defending on a PP. If that goal doesnt go in we'd be in overtime #86 by now wondering when either team is going to try and score.

That was the most boring, uneventful, lackluster and slowest game I've seen the Jets play in an NHL playoff game since their first Game vs Anaheim coming back into the league.

Montreal totally deserves to lead this series 2-0 and I'm fine with them winning it anyway. Both teams will get absolutely destroyed by the Avalanche anyway and all you get by winning this series is a lower draft position.

That’s an interesting question. Which of our top 6 would make one of the remaining teams top 6 or top pairing, excluding mtl. I know helly could play for most teams but based on what I’m seeing out of rest of team I wonder. Schief could probably play 2nd line as could Ehlers.

I feel Chef would be able to overtake William Karlsson as the 1c on Vegas. Maybe an argument could be made for the Isles as well over Barzal. But other then that he would be a 2c on the rest of the remaining teams (minus MTL).

Don't be too hard on PLD... Due to Scheifele's suspension and Stastny's injury, he has to fill the C1 spot all of a sudden. More to that, it's now easier for the Habs to cover your best offensive line by putting Danault's trio against PLD's line. Don't forget that Danault's line (with the occasional help of Suzuki's ans Kotkaniemi's lines) pretty much shut down Matthews and Marner against the Leafs.

The Habs also changed their forechecking system using a 1-2-2 scheme allowing to create a box in the central zone. The key point being that they don't allow any plays inside that box in central zone and force the Jets to go along the boards... Results? The Montreal forwards force the Jets players trying to enter the offensive zone with the puck to go along the board risking to be hit by either Weber, Chiarot, Edmundson or Petry, who suddenly all look faster and more mobile than they really are because they have less territory to cover! If the Jets decide to dump the puck behind the the Habs Ds to put pressure on them, Price quickly gets to it and often orchestrates himself the counter attack. By the way, I think both teams have an outstanding goalkeeper, but Price is in his "zone" right now and is somewhat better than Hellebuyck for playing the puck behind the net. Otherwise, they're both very efficient.

Paul Maurice has to find a way to counter the Habs strategy or else the series could be short. One thing that would help Maurice and the Jets is the return of Statsny as it would help to create good offense from two trios. Even though I'm a Habs fan, I think the Jets are better than what they've shown so far and I expect a better opposition in game 3 and 4. This series isn't over and players from both teams know it! I'm really looking forward for the games tomorrow and Monday. I'm pretty sure that the level of desperation from the Jets will be much higher and I expect games of higher intensity!

This game reminded me a lot of the last game in the St Louis series.
If I remember correctly, they just completely gave up.
This one wasn’t quite as bad but pretty close.
Yeah. I’ve seen my great Auntie Helga (bless her heart) show more intensity at Sunday night bingo at the old folks home than the Jets showed during this playoff game. I get you’re missing some soldiers but the lack of effort here is unacceptable.

I wish I could say I'm looking forward to next game but if it's like that I am definitely not. It isn't good hockey to watch. Remember the 4 - 1 comeback against Edmonton? Ah those were the days.

Wheeler is almost definitely injured. They're probably all injured for f***s sake. The fact Statsny had 10 days off and still couldn't play says everything.

Problem is, we have already come up against variations of the Habs zone thing against other teams.....Maurice has had no answer
