On this board with Crosby it's either...

"We have someone else to dethrone him!"
"He's back at being awesome!"
"He's back to not scoring again!"
"He's unseated again as the best!"

Pick one depending on how people feel during that time of the week with Crosby, he's not universally considered the best here, but outside of this board, he is most definitely.

I agree with Nick Backstrom as an underrated superstar, he does a lot and when healthy he still produces like a #1 center.

I think Getzlaf deserves more respect as well.

you're confusing a few highly reactionary people with a majority opinion

every time there's a poll about who the best player is or whatever Crosby wins by an overwhelming margin

On this other forum, I get crow for putting Getzlaf in a tier with Stamkos, Malkin.

Backstrom loves them secondary assists and last year he was a -20.
One 30 goal season and one 20 goal season IMO is hardly superstar numbers.

I think he's terrific and this year he has been fantastic I just want to see more goals scored and more consistency before I annoint a player a "superstar"
Then again maybe i have a different defintion and my standards are too high.

He was easily the biggest snub for the All-star game.

I think Forsberg was underrated actually. He was one of the best playmakers of all time, one of the best stickhandlers of all time. Also he was an extremely physical player that was borderline dirty but his hitting was underrated he could level guys. He would play out of his mind in the playoffs too. He could do it all obviously injuries dampened his career but when he was healthy there was no one better than him. Could not be stopped in the playoffs

A career PPG and 100 point season doesn't put him in the superstar category ?

Guess there are extremely few superstars, 10 at most using your criteria.

Underrated current stars:
Nick Backstrom (like everyone else says...)
Ryan Getzlaf (not too underrated, but a little; he's been one of the best players in the league for a while)
Henrik Zetterberg (seems to have become underrated in the past couple of seasons; maybe he's being taken for granted?)

Underrated 90s-ish stars:
Ziggy Palffy (was a really excellent player for a few years; very fun to watch)
Brian Leetch (imo the best American player ever except for maybe Chelios)
Adam Oates (sort of the Backstrom of his day--always regarded as underrated even during his prime)
Alex Mogilny (not quite a HHOFer, but when he was on he was one of the best scorers in the league)

Agree with Backstrom, guy plays in all situations.

Maybe not a superstar but I'd say Tanguay is/has been highly underrated throughout his career. Played behind a lot of good players is probably the main reason but he's now looked really good on young and out of playoff Colorado team

Nobody is as loved at HFBoards as Forsberg is.

Elite 3rd line center, Derek Stepan.

Produces like Toews and Bergeron. Plays defense like Toews and Bergeron. 2 are super elite mega centers and the other is a glorified 2C playing over his head because the Rangers have bad center depth.
