They need to remove the banners that are low and blocking the view, it's gotten ridiculous.
If you sit up high in the corners, you can't see the the press box and a big part of the seating on the opposite side.
The National championship banners are fine, not talking about them.
I usually sit at the visitors end for the first and third and move for the second , I used to go down and sit in section 2 for the second period near the top and you can’t see the score clock anymore in the back 5-6 rows. Pretty sure the banners blocking it are literally “nationals appearances” banners… which I kinda question why you need to begin with lol.

Completely agree....I don't see a need for banners showing National Championship appearances. I would stick to just U Cup banners + AUS titles. Some of that other kind of stuff can just be put on a plaque around the concourse or something. Or, I've noticed there are what appears to be old ad spaces (that were probably back-lit) that are situated at the very top of each section that are currently covered over. Maybe they can utilize that space to highlight some of those "lesser" accomplishments. It might also be a good spot for a "ring of honour" for former players.

They were old ad spaces years ago, I don’t know if they have been uncovered since they used the rink to film the CBC Canada/Russia 72 movie (which if anyone hasn’t watched is really good). That was the same time they painted the walls black which made the rink look 1000x better.

I could swear someone else had mentioned it once but I’d like to see that space used as a “ring of honour” .. basically a team hall of fame like some NHL teams do with a similar space . I know the athletics department doesn’t want retired numbers except in very extreme circumstances but besides the all Canadian wall , very little is done to recognize any individual who’s made a significant impact on the program. You could honour Rob Hennigar , Gene Chiarello, Dave Morell anyone really who’s made a huge impact on the program .

I thought maybe today they’d announce an X-mas game but I guess that was just me being hopeful.. Guess I’ve got a month to spend more time watching the Fred Wings and some senior hockey .

I imagine we will see an addition or two over the break, the NCAA thing has thrown a wrench in what future recruiting recruiting looks like but I imagine XMas guys will remain the same going forward (ECHL guys).

IIRC, the Concordia game last year wasn’t announced until we were into December.

I was surprised Blagden wasn't inserted into the lineup tonight as they were short a Dman.
The break is coming at a good time for the Reds as they may have been down Savoie and McGinley this week.

I can't remember the last time UNB did not have an exhibition game over the Christmas break. (not including COVID). As a fan I'm disappointed. But it is good for the the players to get extra time to rest.

I thought the same thing so I went back and looked…it was actually the 2022/23 season, but that was a FISU year so that may have played a role.

McGinley came back in the third today.

The uncertainty is now. Anyone currently playing CHL can commit to NCAA if accepted.
Yes…that’s why I would try to fill out the rest of the roster with ECHL guys (ie/ guys who can’t go NCAA) now if possible….and leave as few spots needing to filled over the summer as possible since you don’t know what kind of talent might be available then.

Saw the comments about banners and had a thought: I saw pictures of the new Gardiner MacDougall banner, between the ones for Joe Glenn and Mark Jeffrey. Am I suffering from some kinda "Mandela Effect" or was there at one point a Mike Cavanagh banner?

I haven't been in the AUC in probably about a decade, and haven't been there regularly in about 20 years, but I could've sworn #6 was in the rafters.

Am I just totally misremembering that?

I think Mandela effect unless I forgot about it . I’m not really sure why we don’t have one because I don’t believe anyone has worn #6 since he passed.

No exhibition games posted, so it looks like the next game will be Jan 10 at home vs the Island.
That's a long lay off.
Every other team does it. 3 guys will get some ice time next week when they play TC.

I have no problem with the players spending a bit more time at home in Ontario or wherever with their families.

I don't know what UNB does but I think most schools don't let their guys leave until after the 15th and lots are back before New Years.

And, I think most teams have a bit of a "training schedule" they want guys to do over the holidays.
