Part of me is curious how the FISU team would do if they played but part of me thinks it could be a bloodbath since the Rochester Americans went 0-3 in 2013 but as I said on the CW post I’m intrigued by unusual matchups and seeing how different leagues matchup ..

Some club hockey in Europe is insanely good . Former AUS player was saying that 50% of the DEL2 would be the best team in the coast and that the top half of the DEL would be the best team in the AHL. Coming from a guy who played CIS , ECHL , DEL, DEL2 and a couple AHL games … I found that rather interesting since we don’t really get to see much of those leagues.
Not to take us entirely OT but I’m gonna go entirely OT.

This is exactly the weird part of my brain that thinks this would be interesting despite not being a good idea lmao.

I now know that Kazakhstan U20 can beat a Canadian Jr.A team 8-1 and move on with my life lol.

Anyways back on topic … anyone heard any rumours about Xmas additions ? Seems awfully quiet this year.

Very quiet. I think at this point it’s safe to assume there won’t be any exhibition games over the break. I also haven’t noticed any ECHL players - outside Bertholet - getting released who would be eligible.

I wouldn't expect any additions at the break.

Moving forward, recruiting isn't going to be easy.
There will still be CHL players available because not everyone is NCAA "eligible", either academically or skill-wise. People may have to accept that Blue Chip players won't be going to their school. You know who I think might be the "winner" here? UQTR and to a lesser extent, UdeM because pure Francophone players may not want to go to an English school in the US.

Just a thought.

Definitely had that thought about the French schools .

If UNB doesn’t add anyone over the break , I wonder if we do end up seeing someone like Zach Bishop(equipment manager) or one of the many tier-2 guys already on campus added to the roster as a warm body with FISU coming up and the risk of injuries, doesn’t mean they necessarily play at all … Let’s not forget they dressed Chris Becker a few times during the 21-22 season.

If you're going to dress them and use a roster spot, they should get a few shifts. I said this before - other teams have sent guys to FISU and survived. UNB is no different. Stop worrying.

I just checked , Savoie was announced Jan.12 and King Jan.18 last year , so silence doesn’t necessarily mean no one is coming.

True…but I haven’t even noticed any first year ECHL guys who have left their team (or been “suspended”). Makes me think there might not be much out there.

No but depth players do exist outside of these guys , Blagden , McQuaid , King , etc... Maybe you don’t add a game breaker but you can still add a useful piece.

Gards got an endorsement from Craig Button during the Jets game. Button thinks Gards should coach the next TC.
Jeff Marek said the same on his new podcast “The Sheet” … already my favourite hockey pod a month or so in.

Off topic but have you guys heard much in regards to the rumours around the Red Wings moving to Bathurst . I’ve heard two versions of the same rumour , moving in 25-26 or moving in 26-27.
Wouldn’t be shocked at all , Bathurst was always a Jr.A city with a Major Junior team and Fredericton never really got behind the league … and what support they did have really seems to have dwindled since the events of this past fall and I really can’t blame those folks for wanting to spend money elsewhere … Can’t say I’ve ever developed into a “Red Wings fan” but I did have season tickets at one point and it’s definitely entertaining hockey so from that standpoint I’d be sad to see it go.
