I thought it was Rassell I seen walking around with a boot on his foot…if it was, he will probably be out awhile.

UNB definitely wore down the Axemem
tonight…a mid-week game + short bench gave UNB a big advantage.

Yeah I saw him going down the stairs to the UNB room with a boot on. At least no crutches
Rassell has an ankle sprain but thankfully he was lucky, not too serious and should be back out there sooner than later.

Some have noticed that UNB is on the road for two straight weeks (somewhat unique, but nothing special on its own) versus the same to opponents (which is rare).

So - how rare - it's never happened before! I've check my records back to 1970 and they have never played the same two teams, on the road, in four consecutive road games. There were some close opportunities, mainly due to PEI road trips prior to the bridge (STU on Wednesday, PEI, PEI then MTA the following Wednesday - had that been STU again - it would have been 4).

Has this happened when UNB hosted? - just one occurrence in 1977-78. However, the order is not the same as it is with the DAL/SFX weekends, but it is the same two opponents over a 4 game stretch.

77/78 Jan 21 D. MacAdam C13 H vs PEI L 5 - 7 (Sat)
77/78 Jan 22 D. MacAdam C14 H vs PEI L 3 - 7 (Sun)
77/78 Jan 25 D. MacAdam C15 H vs UDM L 2 - 7 (Tue)
77/78 Jan 28 D. MacAdam C16 H vs UDM W 9 - 8 (Fri)

UNB, gotta get that pp going! 17-0 in shots in the first period and nothing to show for it.
And it costs them…didn’t watch a second but sounded like a classic X/UNB game.

Gotta be something up with Parenteau if he didn’t play (or even dress)….I figured he would’ve got that game, especially with Outhouse playing last night. Did the goaltending let them down? 4 goals on 22 shots obviously isn’t great…we’re they bad goals?

Honestly though…beating them twice in a row down there was probably wishful thinking.

What is concerning is the lack of quality shots. It would be different if they were getting robbed by great goaltending.

Fortunately the penalty kill is perfect.
Definitely don’t seem to have the natural goal scorers of the previous years.

They had close to 100 SOG this weekend and six goals (+ the empty netter)…should be getting at least 9-10 goals at minimum with that quantity of shots.

Playing McGill in the Pete Kelly this year.

I also just realized that they have not played UQTR since the whole Francis Beauvillier recruiting saga in the fall of 2014…sure that’s not a coincidence.

There are no "spare" forwards this year, since a couple of stud recruits opted to play pro. Ben Gagne has been playing as a forward in Rassell's absence. I would expect Gardiner will bring in at least one forward after Christmas. As mentioned above, Gardiner still has three "player cards" to use. He doesn't always use all of his roster spots, but I can't see him 'wasting' them this winter - unless the players he's looking for just aren't there, or are already off the market.
