Saigeon leaves unb for ECHL
He’s 23 now, though. If he plays a game won’t he have to sit out 365 days? This is his second go around with the ECHL…so I doubt he goes the school route at this point. You never know, he might be back at Christmas. It happens. The Major Junior education package deadline goes tick ... tick ... tick ... and some guys decide that the ECHL will be still there when they're done school.
I can’t imagine G-Mac necessarily wanting to bring him back into the fold , Ben Wright had committed to UNB and then went to ECHL and returned at Xmas , but as a previous poster said, this is Saigeon’s second foray into the ECHL. Gardener wants his guys buying in as much to the education aspect as he does the hockey aspect, and he has shown that isn’t where he is at, plus he is blowing eligibility, even if he goes back to school , I’d honestly be shocked if we ever saw him in a UNB jersey. If Saigeon goes back to school. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s unb or school closer to home

Got to say the video feed last night was amazing. Way brighter than it's ever been (the ice was actually white) and 200% clearer. 4K cameras make a big difference. You could even see the puck and the close-ups were super clear. The instant replay was good too - clean intro and exit.
Dave - my suggestions are;
- look at getting the audio fixed during the replay. Last night it went silent. I don't think hearing you guys talk about is a bad thing.
- the audio was a bit low. I had my speaker at 70% which is rare for me.
- finally - mention the time. This new feed only has the score, so the audience has no idea how much time is left in penalties or the period.
Keep up the good work.
I had to laugh , no more than 20 seconds before Boland scored, I said to the people I was with that Boland didn’t quite seem himself yet .First three games showed a great deal about the speed UNB will bring to the table this year. I thought game one they were a little tentative with play and shots, but games 2 and 3 they seem to have settled down quite nicely.
Moncton looked better than I expected, and I think they will make a run at top four this year. ACA looked very disorganized and had a hard time with UNB speed. DAL, like so many seasons before looked great for 40 minutes, but ran out of gas in the third. Their goalie though, nice performance, easily could have been 10+ to nothing. 61 shots on net, with at least four others hitting iron.
Outhouse seemed out of place the first period, and was way to willing to wonder, but hopefully that will settle down.
Rassell, Hall, Dove-McFalls, and Keating all with strong offensive performances so far. Phelan has really caught my eye, I think he will have a big upside. Nurse causes chaos around the net, and should be a great addition this year.
Still waiting for Boland to get back to form, but his snipe in game three was pretty great.
So happy hockey is back.
I said roughly the same thing on the air, probably less that a minute before he scored ...I had to laugh , no more than 20 seconds before Boland scored, I said to the people I was with that Boland didn’t quite seem himself yet .
I’ve been impressed with Carroll , I had high hopes for him when he came, and he is starting to look like maybe he will become the top 4 guy I thought he had the potential to be.
So far so good, but I still worry about the lack of bodies at this point….especially with Willms/Gagne/Hall already out. Hopefully nothing major and they can get to the break without too many injuries…it’s going to be hard to keep it up with 15 skaters every night.
.
There’s nothing currently listed on the discipline page about a suspension for Hall…so hard to say.Completely forgot about Gagne. Guess that happens after 18 months of not seeing the team.
Was Hall injured? I thought he may have been handed a one game suspension after the Acadia game.

Looking at the box score, he a roughing penalty and unsportsmanlike after the whistle…and to me it was basically just a scuffle after the whistle as far as I could tell from where I was sitting. I don’t know if he really did anything to warrant a suspension??
Have to assume it was more injury related, although he looked fine skating off at the end of the second period. He didn't come back out at all for the 3rd period on Friday night either.
If ever their was a GMac kind of player , Dove-McFalls is it.Dove-McFalls named captain.
Boland/Rassell/Gatenby named alternates with Parenteau also being part of the leadership group.
