I was pretty disappointed in the attendance for game 3 against Acadia in 2020. Sure, it was a big crowd…but I expected better for a deciding game.
A buddy of mine got turned away at the door for game 3 in 2020 against Acadia and their was minimum 600 empty seats . I kind of have a hunch they set aside elementary tickets to give away . Can’t wait to have my seat kicked and people walking in front of me all game … hopefully campus security actually enforces the rules tonight. Not sure the impact it will have. It’s an in-person ticket deal (child is free/parent 1/2 price)….but it doesn’t seem like there will be many walk-up tickets available.
Hopefully it is a legit sell-out/packed rink and not one of those “sell-outs” with 1000 empty seats because the ticket holders decided not to show up.
The offense left over the break - that's the problem. They only had secondary scoring and that wasn't enough.I believe this is the first time they’ve ever lost their opening game at a UCup.
Definitely need to address the offense this summer.
Yup in either the 6 team or 8 team format.I believe this is the first time they’ve ever lost their opening game at a UCup.

Yup…they had guys who were forced into playing higher in the lineup than they probably should have been. That’s what happens when you lose 3 big recruits over the summer and 2/3 of your top line at the break (not to mention the guys they lost over the shutdown). They just lost too much offensive talent and haven’t been able to replace it yet. Need to bring in some top line talent and push guys back down into a more favourable role. The offense left over the break - that's the problem. They only had secondary scoring and that wasn't enough.
Certainly the weakest UNB team for at least 15 years.
Not sure what will happen this Summer. While UNB obviously does a great job at recruiting it is difficult to get freshmen They’re really going to need some of the rookies to take a big step next year + bring in some top-6 guys.
A lot of teams lost players during break. Hockey Gods decided it was Ryerson day which isn’t a bad thing for usports hockeyYup…they had guys who were forced into playing higher in the lineup than they probably should have been. Good for SDM, I am probably in a minority but I view him as the most likely NHL’er since Boyce. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but I could see him succeeding in your bottom 6 forwards , this year with the loss of Boland and Guay as well as loosing Gilmore for the second half we got to see him play up the lineup and he put up pretty solid numbers, at the CIS level he reminded me of a Patrice Bergeron.Dove-McFalls has signed an AHL deal.
They’re going to need a massive recruiting year…a 2007 (Bailey/Tremblay/Yeomans) or 2018 (Boucher/Rassell/SDM/Gatenby) type of class.
FFS, you'd swear that UNB had never won before and this was their only chance. They have a very spoiled fan base. If they don't win by 5 every game, it's a bad game. UNB was getting 40 shots/game and clinched 1st place in October. They had a good team this year, even after the guys left in Jan. Look at other teams in the AUS who have never won anything for years and be thankful for what UNB has done over the past 15 years.A lot of teams lost players during break. I wonder if any of the 4th year players plan on staying an extra season?Parenteau also signs a pro deal, heading to the Marlies.
This is the time of year I really turn my attention to the QMJHL. I’ve noticed that there is a lot of overage offensive talent this season. Hopefully something UNB can take advantage of.
Apparently there are a ton of 19 year olds with the Saint John Seadogs this season. Only three of them would be able to stay as 20-year-olds next season with Saint John. Considering the Sea Dogs - UNB pipeline it has been suggested to me to watch where those overagers land up next season, and consider a number of them being UNB bound in two seasons. This is the time of year I really turn my attention to the QMJHL. Rassell was in his first year of his MBA to the best of my knowledge, I would expect him back in the fall and a very likely candidate to inherit the "C".One problem is that some of their top scorers (SD-M/Rassell) may be moving on so they will also need to replace that offense. Fortunately they should have 3 roster spots to work with before any departures (I’m guessing Becker/McQuaid were just fill-ins for this season).

Peter Reynolds would look awfully good in Red and BlackApparently there are a ton of 19 year olds with the Saint John Seadogs this season. I’ve been following Josh Lawrence…but he is having a great year (admittedly, on a stacked team) in his overage-1 season. Might get some pro looks.Peter Reynolds would look awfully good in Red and Black
Dunno about that. Reynolds is not having a good season and looks pretty disinterested.Peter Reynolds would look awfully good in Red and Black
