Back on topic, we ultimately already have a top 4 for the foreseeable future.

Beyond that:
Jones / Lundkvist have high offensive upside.
Robertson / Schneider both have Trouba vibes (some offense, steady defense, size, and IQ).
That's our bottom 4 for the foreseeable future.

There's room for Jones, and by showing him we believe in him after his sophomore year, we don't have to play chicken with him in his senior year (since he got his championship and all).
Win win.

I feel bad for Libor and Tarmo, though.
They are both 6/7 D right now, and either of them in the right fit on a decent team would play 5+ games out of 10. Hajek's playing a little too much (although he doesn't shy away from shooting, which is refreshing), and Reunanen deserves (much?) more of a look.

I also feel bad for Skinner. Sick name, but little room. If he was NCAA, then I'd assume he's gone. If he sticks around for another D being traded, then he could actually be a Ranger. He could also be a Keane that gets us a useful forward for a year or two.

and that’s why there’s so much anxiety. you see the potential. you see a foundation of potential greatness and you’re terrified management is gonna f*** it up somehow. the best talent we’ve had arguably ever and you feel like they have to make it work somehow.

I'm not terrified they will f*** it up.

I think it's incredibly unlikely they f*** it up.

It's all about creating opportunities and seeing who takes it and runs with it. Why not, i think the earlier we see what we have the better we'll know what we need

How long is the quarantine period?

I think this kid is going to get into the lineup right away once that period ends.

Not sure if the NHL has separate quarantine rules but I found this:

I feel like this is putting the cart before the horse. The only one of these players that is up for a "big" raise is Fox. Maybe Igor gets a decently-sized contract.

Laf and kakko and Chytil need to actually put up numbers before anyone should worry about their pay. Laf is pacing <30 points in what is amounting to a disappointing rookie season. Kakko is pacing <30 points in what is amounting to a disappointing sophomore season. Kravstov is looking like a player, but we still don't know what we have in him yet.

If they start producing in a manner that commands a big payday, we can move the world to accommodate their next contracts. At that point we can consider that a good problem to have, but I don't see a reason to be concerned in the short term, especially not when it comes to signing players like Jones.
How can you produce huge point totals as a 19-20 year old with limited to zero PP time? That’s what people fail to understand. Oh, and no OT.

They’ve won one time in the last seventy years.

this was a reply. Idk what’s going on with this site lately. My point of this was to say that, yes, I’m worried management thinks Quinn is the answer and he’s going to **** this up.

He can't f*** it up because if it stops going in the right direction, he's gone.

Honestly shocked he signed. I thought for sure he was going back. I get the psychology behind going out with a championship. But I just hope he's physically and positionally ready. He's def bigger than he was when drafted but I think he's roughly Fox's size but with less wheels. We'll see. He's a smart kid like Fox.

until they find a Center and manage this cap better i think we’re all concerned.

Concern is fine, but history is irrelevant. They have the most potential assets I've ever seen here. They should be able to make it work.

No guarantee they'll win the Cup, but they are a top contender within 2 seasons and they should have a 5 year window to win.

Of course things could go in the crapper, but I don't think any team has a better potential future.

Colorado, TB, and Carolina also figure to be major forces in the immediate future, but we all know things can change quickly.

Anyway, it's an awesome time to be a Rangers fan. Enjoy it.

the accumulation of talent is amazing. We’ve never seen anything like this imo.

Long term deals like Kreider scare me and that’s contract isn’t too historically distant. Can see them locking Buch up long term too follow by Zibby. Then what? I think we all want the kids and can do without several of these vets.

PP and OT minutes is not the difference between 28 points and the kind of numbers they need to put up to merit a contract that will handcuff our cap situation

You're making a hell of an assumption that none of those guys will pop by the time their ELC's are up.

It takes one good year.
