I could be mixing up my past failed prospects from that era. There were so many of them, afterall.
No biggie. Wsh there had been more known for their skating. Its why i keep my hopes open re Aaltonen

If you follow the thread, I am talking about players developing in Hartford. Duclair never played in Hartford. Shestorkin came here at 24 year old and played about 20 games in Hartford, not exactly "developing". He developed in Russia. Buchnevich played 4 games in Hartford.

How did I not say Barron is not coming along? He has been in Hartford for 16 games, that is hardly "developing in Hartford" I give Cornell more credit for his development at this point. As far as comparison to Callahan, Callahan became a legit NHLer, that was the point of using him Girardi, Dubinsky as my references. Barron has not yet. Do I think he is on his way to doing so? Yes. But obviously not there yet.

Pionk, I actually forgot about. I'll give that one.

So what's the exact number of games a player needs to play in order to have "developed in Hartford?" Callahan played over 3x as many games in the OHL as he did in Hartford. Dubinsky played 3x as many games in the WHL as he did in Hartford. Ryan Lindgren played more games in the AHL than he did in his entire NCAA career, but you labeled him as a guy who didn't count as developing in Hartford.

I guess I just feel like you're grossly overselling how many steps forward guys like Dubinsky and Callahan took in the AHL. Both guys came in, produced well, or even extremely well, and promptly made the jump. A guy like Jonathan Marchessault is someone who I would classify as truly developing in the AHL and he played for 3 different teams before making the jump. PA Parenteau is another guy like that.

In reality, the AHL is a polishing block for the vast majority of NHL players who pass through. Most guys who go on to have meaningful NHL careers play less than a full season of AHL hockey, if they play there at all. The Rangers have had a lot of guys jump over Hartford because they developed in Europe, Russia, the NCAA or CHL. If that's happening as often as it has been over the last few years, does it really matter that guys aren't being developed in Hartford? When the team is deeper and there's a steadier stream of prospects coming up behind them, we'll start seeing more quality guys on that Hartford squad.

lmfao Ryan Leaf failed because he didn’t care about winning. He cared about the money and fame. It’s why it was such a huge red flag when he said he was going to Vegas after he drafted rather than focus on learning the playbook et al.

It’s not an unreal expectation for your team to put themselves in the best position to win. When your team makes dumb moves, they should be called out on it. I’m not saying we should win every year at all, but this team has to limit the dumb decisions they make.

No the other guy got it right.

He was entitled and thought he was way better than he actually was. The second he faced the slightest bit of adversity, he wilted and threw a tantrum, which continue to happen until he flamed out of the league and has unfortunately, carried over to his personal life as well.

I don’t like him on the bottom pairing, but I don’t think he’s skilled enough to play in a top 4 role just yet. We’ll see though. Kind of wanted him to spend one more year in college, but I would rather have him now than risk losing him later on.

If I clearly said my concern is a lack of prospect development in Hartford, why would I bring up players who NEVER played in Hartford in Miller, Fox, Kakko, Lafreniere?
If you are so friggin' concerned, then come up with at least one name that will illustrate your point. WHO IS THE MYSTERY PROSPECT THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY DEVELOPED? This is really not a hard question and even offers multiple choice.
But to answer your question, I would say based on what has gone on the past few years there is good chance those players would have regressed in Hartford.
Based on freaking what do you make this statement?
However, not something I can prove, nor can you disprove.
Which makes it......nothing more than pure conjecture.
As for guys like Gropp, Day, we will never know if they would have developed in other systems. What we DO know is they did not develop into anything in this system. Whose fault is that? Again, not something any of us can prove, but when the evidence shows hardly anyone outside of recent first round picks to come out of Hartford, it raises an eyebrow. Yes, maybe my expectations are unrealistic or maybe yours are too low.
So, yes, your view is that Ryan Gropp would develop into a proper NHL player were he in any other system? I get this logic. I mean if only Jesse Puljuravi was drafted by the Rangers and not Edmonton, he would be a star player in the NHL. That's the same logic.
As for how this applies to Jones, I am hoping they see him as having a legit shot to make the big club next season. As in they see it right now as his job to lose. I would be concerned if the thought is give him a cup of coffee this season and send him to Hartford next year. If that is the case, would rather he stayed at UMass.
Why is it his job to loose? Why not Hajek's? Or Reaunen's? Or Robertson's?

Ahh...there it is. It would be better for him to remain in UMass and PROPERLY develop there as opposed to have his growth stunted in Hartford the way that say.....Ryan Lindgren has. Loud and clear.

That, I can understand. But if what Kredierman said earlier about the philosophy being a one size fits all matter, that is not a good sign, imo.
Need to have a separate set of rules for each and every nationality instead of treating everyone the same way? Makes sense. That is very inclusive of you.

interesting trend, not including Performance Bonuses in ELC

While it doesn't seem like a huge concern for the Leafs yet, they have 11 players on expiring contracts. I'd assume they will have some ELCs on the roster next season but I highly doubt they would get to the point where they exceed the cushion

Man, that's gotta be so cool. Getting out there the first time wearing the same sweater as guys like Trouba, Panarin, Kreider, Zibanejad, Fox, etc. Skating with these star players you've been watching on TV, knowing now you actually play on the same team as them. I know Jones has played high-level hockey and probably knows some of these guys already, but still, can you imagine how cool that would be? I'd have to pop like 10 bars of Xanax before going out there.
Lol, he looks like he's in shock.
Haha, exactly. That would be me. I'd just be like, "Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit."

Dude.

That's Artemiy Panarin.

Holy shit. I'm practicing with PANARIN.

In exchange for burning a year, don't forget.

Smart, especially in a flat-cap world. Were the Rangers (or Zac's agent) the first to think of it?

McAvoy and Boston did the same. They heavily reduced the performance bonuses in exchange for a burnt year, resulting in a 10.2(c) status after the ELC, similar to Jones.

Let's not forget the advantage of that , giving the team the time to negotiate without worrrying about salary arbitration or the threat of an offer sheet.
