I'm guessing he'll have some up and downs later in the season but I think he has shown enough to be next seasons backup goalie.

Hell, he's shown enough to be next season's 1A. We've been crying for a league-average goalie for years, and that's basically exactly what he's been.....and he's been better than average in 2024.

Agreed that we kind of need to see how he does the rest of the way......but I'm perfectly content with UPL as long as the voodoo doesn't wear off.

If he's the 1A I still think we need a 1B. This season will probably net him the most games so far but can he handle 45+ starts?

Pretty funny that the swedish media lockerroom visit had UPL doing cardio and Dahlin being surprised by it. He knows Adams will throw him to the wolves. Pre-season presser summer of 24 edition:
"I'm not afraid to make unconventional decisions but this 1 goalie roster is something we believe in. UPL said he's willing to play all 82 games."

I can't believe I am saying this, by UPL is quickly starting to move himself into the must extend category. His 14th in S% among goaltenders with 25+ games and top 5 in shutouts. And this is on a team where just about everybody refuses to play effective defense, hanging their goalie out to dry often.

UPL should be on this roster next year.

I have been a huge doubter but his command of the net lately looks like he figured something out

In a very disappointing season, Luu giving them consistent quality starts is one of what, two?, good things that have happened this year. (The other being RJohnson's arrival and his play dictating his stay in the NHL.)

I’m glad 6K is doing well. I was one of his biggest backers last season when people wanted him fired into the sun.

Good reminder that goalies are voodoo, don’t question it, give it time but not too much. Stir occasionally.

I still think Mika Noronen coulda been something, dammit!

Most valuable individual in Buffalo right now, there I said it. This guy could be stellar in Bruins, Flyers and a lot of other teams. Show him some respect further down the road.
Can't be easy minding the net with the Sabres when this team and D doesn't show up, can actually be devastating.

Again, I said he isn't much worse than Carter Hart and I still behind this.

UPL seems to perform at his best when he is the unquestioned starter

Was the same last year. Before the goalie who I refuse to name came back, UPL was on fire. Then, when time was split, he struggled

I always knew he'd be good, I've watched him quite a bit in person and he was making all the hard saves. Then let in a softie. It's all about managing the pucks you let in and not letting in the weak ones. I knew after that his game would take off.
I remember one poster wanting to trade him for a 7th or put him on waivers earlier this year lol.

Do people really think a 24 year old goalie can't improve?
Buffalo fans are smart but I swear they can also be among the dumbest.

UPL singlehandedly giving the Sabres their most team shutouts since 2011-12...

Three shutouts in under a month, 7 wins in his last 12 starts, but 3 of the five losses have seen him only yield 1 goal (once) or 2 goals (twice) against. With even a modicum of a functional PP, he's probably sitting at 10 wins in that span.

Give him a veteran backup next year for f*** sake. Let Levi have a year in the AHL.

Dude is performing, is very skilled, has a pedigree…he has earned the right to be starter and to have a veteran behind him to help him grow
Do you like the Gibson idea ?

Is his scoring that much of a surprise though?
Watching him in the worlds I was hoping some of that would translate, but didn't expect him to lead the team in goals, but maybe that is because others didn't do much.
However you said good things, not surprises.
