Add insult to injury, Ville Husso got a shutout last night.
Does Husso have any playoff experience?

I don't think he was ever going to be an option. Leafs are looking for goalies capable of playoff success.

I went searching for the Leafs' Development camp roster to see if they had a Canadian University goalie this summer (they didn't) but apropos to the s-show that has developed in the Leafs' front office the roster pdf was 17 MB. That's MLSE public relations department.

I’m extremely confident in what I said.
Why is it you can be extremely confident in what the answer isn’t, but give no answers to what the right answer in net is?

Would you have traded a 2nd rounder or two to try and dissuade Minnesota from receiving another goalie back for Talbot, go after Husso at the draft, out bid Colorado for Georgiev, or Edmonton for Campbell, or go full balls to the walls and trade Nylander+ for a Helleybuyck or Demko or something.

Goalies moved this summer, and one could attempt to understand the value to teams of goalies that weren’t.
Any educated hockey fan could have given an answer to that.

It’s more fun for everybody to go full armchair GM, rather than cherry-picking perceived criticisms without trying to understand what options could have been out there and the risks and consequences that come with those options.

...and to add to this, it's regular season. Ppl should save their energy for the playoffs, this team has proven to be successful with replacement level goaltending in the regular season.

They didn't even bother with the save small?

David Ayres' eras perked up.

Also, f*** Curtis Douglas for standing around like a goof after watching his goalie get run. 6'9? I didn't know they stacked shit that high.

Those were some bad teammate instincts. 6'9" guy looking for the ref, arms in the air. Last man into the scrum.

Leafs are at the 50 contract limit so the Leafs couldn't even claim someone on waivers to fill a need without getting rid of a another player.

CONTRACTS: 50/50

Added wrinkle in all this - the Leafs are at 50 contract slots, meaning they won't be able to sign another goalie / upgrade Ferguson's AHL PTO without shipping someone out

What a disaster if Samsonov goes down

Regarding ATO, if we do call up a university kid but he doesn't play, does he lose his amateur status for future ATO consideration?
I know the answer may be an obvious one, but again some rules have been head scratchers.

Dubas traded for him knowing his medical history the last 3 seasons. Even worse

The Leafs always talk about their calculations as if they were "betting on this, betting on that." Well, this is the well documented downside of that bet. He's essentially a parlay on health and quality of play.

Hopefully the injury is a nothing burger or if worst comes it gives Samsonov some runway to establish himself. But yeah, Murray was always going to be a long bet.
