pulling the 'chute before he has to play his old team ?
Honestly when I watched the Murray's interviews it seemed like something wasn't right. Idk if he's battling depression which is a serious topic or what but it just seemed like he had no intention of wanting to even be there. Obviously I have no way to know though and I'm not claiming anything and I hope I'm wrong. Just when I see a guy fall off a cliff professionally usually at times it can be an indication he's not right between the ears.

Confirmed

The two teams had a deal lined up that would have seen the two teams flip first-round picks, with the Sabres moving up No. 7 for the No. 16 overall selection, with the Senators also retaining salary. Murray, however, has Buffalo on his 10-team no-trade list and declined to waive for the move.

I don't think the Leafs could move up from 16 to 7 for a 3rd and a 7th round pick so I do believe we got a worse deal and basically Murray was only going to waive for Toronto or Edmonton but Edmonton already tampered so we were the only show in town.

Making it really f***ing hard to justify this trade.

Just awful optics.
This isn't the playoffs, the goaltending was assembled for playoff success, so can't judge this now.

This is exactly why Samsonov was brought in as well. If you didn't expect Murray to be injured, you weren't paying attention.

Ohh sorry my mistake he traded for him. Yea you’re right I hate the fact our GM traded for Murray. Any educated hockey fan knew this was going to be the outcome.
Have you seen Keumper and Fleury play yet?

Yep. But I'd say the reason this doesn't look great is because it is precisely what everyone expected. If this goaltending tandem was going to be good they were going to have to buck the trend, not continue it. So far Murray has been EXACTLY what everyone expected, hasn't he?

Not great optics.
