I wonder if all the Bluejackets devotees appreciate their goonery.

edit: perhaps 'goonery' is a bit strong, but they tried to bludgeon the Rangers and obviously Calvert was instructed to do thuggish things to Nash. That's how it goes, so nice to see the Rangers push back.

Don't agree. Columbus played a hard game and Calvert's a small guy and a skilled player. He's got a bit of edge but he's hardly a goon. The Blue Jackets outhit us and tried to out physical us but that is part of their DNA. Their style of play is not all that unlike the 11-12 Rangers though they don't have the triumvirate of Rupp-Bickel-Prust. Boll is their goon. He didn't play. Prout is a really tough guy. After that--they have a few who will drop the gloves but no real fighter fighters. The Rangers are not a big team and not usually physical.

LOL.

What an awesome ****ing game.

The power of Winnie compels you!!

Really pissed I missed this game.

We won--which is always great--and we fought back to do it but the Nash non-goal in the second is really ****ing aggravating to me at least. It could have been a difference maker and this was just another idiotic decision that has happened way too often this year.

If Nash played like that every game (or at least a bit more consistently) he'd be one of the best players in the league.

Look at how worked up his fight got his team mates? He needs to play with that edge every game. Hopefully he learns from this and can try and be more consistent.

Well, this is the worst year I can remember for biased reffing. I've been floored at how many times we've gotten screwed this year so, unfortunately, it's not a shock.

If you believe in math, Sportsclubstats.com now has the Rangers at 88.1% at making the playoffs now. If they lost, it would have been ~70%.

I am not knocking hard play, at all. What I did see, as I am fairly sure others witnessed as well, was an effort by Calvert to go after Nash. As I mentioned in my edit, goonery is not really a term I would use to describe the Bluejackets. Nash was taken down in a dirty way, and then repeatedly crosschecked. Calvert did indeed target Nash. As I said, that is the way it goes, but let there be no question, Calvert targetted Nash and I did not appreciate his dirty takedown of Nash.

That hit on moore and G not doing anything is the reason why i pray he will not be the captain of this team.

I ****ing hate seeing that. Moore is a young guy... means a lot when a veteran guy stands up for a younger player on the team ... That has to happen, We have seen G skate away so many times from plays like this ....

Things like that makes me want the rangers to take the "A" away from him ...

Poo showed more heart and this is his first season with the team

You can see the intensity in Nash's face in the post game. It's really good to see that.

Can someone please give me a brief synopsis of this game skirmish wise? Sounds like i missed a very intense game. What happened to Moore? What happened with arty/kreider/nash and the goalie. Pouliot in a fight? Nash in a fight? WTF did I miss???

I missed the first two periods, and did not see this. I sure hope John Moore can come back soon.

If Step scores on his pace he'll have 55 points and good defensively. That's a very good second line center. I know after last year we were hoping he'd be a 1st liner, well a) he's young and b) what he is now ain't bad honestly.

Sauntered over to the CBJ game thread. They are killing Nash for "picking on a 5'11 guy." they say he did not acknowledge the fans after the standing ovation. Whining about his going after Bobrovsky. Guess they missed the shot to the back of Nash's legs. The shot on Moore, the crosscheck by Tyutin on Zucc, there was a lot of cheap stuff and also clean, tough play by CBus. Loved Kreider defending McDonagh. Sure wish we saw more of that from this group.

Stepan has been a different player since the Olympics, no question about it. And I'm one of his biggest fans, and was constantly trying to defend him earlier in the year.

I'm saying that having missed this game. Anyone want to tell me what all the Winnie cooper stuff is about?

Not to be a downer, but when the **** is St. Louis gonna show up? Biggest game of the season and he's MIA. He had the most minutes of any forward.
