I hate this PP's to start a period argument. Most of the PP's to start a period aresplit between periods after the part to end the prior period has to be unsuccessful for it to carry over. If they're only going by time then you're burning up seconds by the horn going to end the period and then having to start over on center ice again.

If you're only comparing full PP that start a period to full PP otherwise the faceoff at center v faceoff in the zone will still have a small difference. There isn't really a single fair way to compare PP split between periods or starting at a new period. It's not because the ice is fresh, or defense is rested or any number of other stupid reasons guys come up with
