NHL truly is a weird league. They have established a good, reliable system of playing 82 games to determine who the best teams are. Yet somehow, people are totally convinced that it's the RNG lottery ball simulator raffle after those 82 games that matters.

With or without Monahan and Toffoli, we're one Hellebuyck slump away from going back to the drawing board without a 2C, with a shoddy right side of the defense, and some key extensions looming ahead. That's hardly a sign of an unusual team. I don't think there are any, to be honest.
you ok there fella?.....you seem a lil down

Why so negative?
Playoffs is a different beast than regular season.
Teams who roll out 4 lines and have the most depth are the ones who usually go on long runs in the playoffs.
As for Hellebuyck going into a slump ... did you forget the Jets backup goalie who has just as good numbers?
Sure the Jets can get bounced in the first round ... the best NHL team ever in regular season got bounced in the 1st round last year but if you don't try to improve your team for the playoffs you will never win.

*toffoli plays most with Jack hughes*

Who's our high rush/octane, stick handling type of player? 🤔

Actually knowing Jets' coaches, Toffoli will probably take 27's spot and bump Ehlers down to the 4th line.

The variability, or luck factors don't alter the conditions I listed for this year's Jets.

A Helle slump
A Scheifele suspension
A Morrissey injury
etc, etc, etc.
could derail our PO hopes.

TD rentals do not provide any guarantees. Neither do the 4 draft picks we have given up. None are going to be high picks.

I would have much preferred we got a 2C during the off-season. One with some term. I also would have preferred upgrading our RD. Those things didn't happen. But the team showed it was better than most of us expected, even without having solved those issues. So now we are having to go the less efficient route to solving them.

I would not be supporting getting these rentals if the team had not shown so much potential in the first half, nor had the prospects to be able to withstand a hit to our draft capital. But under the circumstances we have, I'm all in. This is a first for me.

Hey Chevy you done real good with this one. Love this.

This would be my favorite add for a scoring forward. Top 6 rocks now.

And you can never go wrong adding a Tyler.

A bourbon toast to you Chevy.

I saw a post about NJD fans saying how he kills plays or plays die on his stick.... Id like to introduce them to number 1 on NHL's Most Wanted, Alex Iafallo.

Hate it. Chevy you big dummy.
If you look at who the Jets have drafted in the second round, this deal is fantastic.

Lukas Sutter, Nic Petan, Eric Comrie, Jansen Harkins, Dylan Samberg, David Gustafsson, Simon Lundmark, Daniel Torgerssun, Nikita Chibrikov, Elias Salomonsson

Taking your chances to trade a future one of those and a third for a proven playoff veteran with 50% retained salary to boot? If that isn't a good trade then I honestly don't know what you were expecting.

Can't agree with the bolded part. There is no proof of that. It depends too much on things like depth, injury luck, etc.

If your roster has a fatal hole, you should fill it if you want to go all the way. Avs had that at 2C. They have taken steps to solve that. Jets also had that and have taken steps. I'm not sure that Mony is the solution. Time will tell. There is no guarantee in Colorado with Mitts either. But in both cases it would have been better to have fixed those problems last off-season.

Rather be a realist than a pessimist. Had we gotten long-term solutions instead of rentals, there would be a lot more to be happy about.
2nd and 3rd round picks don't turn into long term solutions very often

First pick in the second round has a 50% chance of playing 80 NHL games TOTAL in their career. Falls off from there

I say this as a major proponent of chevy hanging onto 1st round picks. If we're gonna be drafting g mid to late 1st round regularly, at some point quantity of picks becomes important since they all won't turn out

I still think that we're suffering a bit from dealing 1st rounders for Stats and Hayes (yes I know that we got that one back in the trouba deal)
