With Vilardi out, maybe. But we already have a triggerman on the 1st line in Connor.
But Perfetti could be setting him up on the 2nd line if Vilardi is back. Ehlers is no slouch as a setup man either. If Toffoli goes to the net while Ehlers is busy skating East/West there will be goals.

Yeah, potentially plenty of options.

Nice acquisition!

Now I am hoping to add Toffoli's Stanley Cup game worn Winnipeg Jets jersey to my Toffoli 2015 World Championships game worn jersey!

I'd rather have seen them mix up the forward lines (mostly the third) before spending assets on a potential fix, however solid he may be.

I don't see the relationship there. We have needed another top 6 winger all year, since Iafallo turned out not to be one. With Vilardi still being injury prone that need is even greater. If Perfetti is going to stay in the bottom 6 it is that much more again.

We might have filled a top 6 wing by moving Nino up and playing Barron in his place if that is the kind of change you had in mind. But it seems like the Lowry line is cast in stone so your preference may be pure fantasy.

I believe Stone is perpetually injured and that he can be either LTIR'd or activated as needed.

He's definitely hurt, and I don't think he'll ever be back to 100%. However, it appears he is also able to push through and play when he wants to.

Maybe only for short periods. Needs to be rested/rehabbed.

They have 20 games to find 3 lines that work.

I was wondering where that was.

Now, why was Miller not added to the deal? How much more would he have cost?

RHD plays with Dillon. Pionk and Schmidt rotate in the 3RD spot with Snerg. Bumps Stan to #8.

Does someone need to be waived? or do we go with an expanded roster from here on?

So who's going down to the Moose? Presently this is a 24 man roster. I know the roster freeze goes into place AFTER the trade deadline, but isn't this an issue for the time being?

Perhaps this is why Villardi is being given some time to nurse his UBI?

What everybody should understand is that any individual team's chance at the Cup is f***ing terrible, and even in the finals, most match-ups are a total coin flip. You aren't going to fix your team or improve it enough to make a significant difference at the TDL, unless you're changing goaltenders from league worst to league best. Posters claiming that "acquiring XYZ makes the team a contender" are talking out of their asses.

TDL is just empty calories that generate a ton of clicks. Nothing more than that. If you want to win, create a playoff-caliber team in the offseason, employ a good coach, and then hope and pray for no major cold streaks between April and June.

In principle, I so much agree with this. I have been preaching that gospel here for years. But - for Jets this year is unusual. The team has real potential to contend. Top 4 in the league goalie, true #1C, true #1 D, good depth and a coach who might be able to get them playing as an effective unit. Couple that with the strong group of prospects and this is the year to try to match the competition with rental upgrades.

Some of the TDL rentals do end up fitting and make a difference. You never know which ones until the games are played. Avs had a big hole at 2C. If Mitts adapts to the new team quickly that will be a difference maker for them. Whether he will or not remains to be seen.

IF Mony and Toffoli can help us get by Avs then they are worth the cost. That too remains to be seen.

Toffoli played with Iafallo a lot from 2017-2020 and was definitely a guy I was sad to see leave LA and sad to see Blake not go after this TDL. When Kopitar had his 92-point Hart candidate year in 2018, he had Iafallo and Toffoli on his wings.

Anyway, love this move, what a deep forward group. Good luck!
