Rather be a realist than a pessimist. Had we gotten long-term solutions instead of rentals, there would be a lot more to be happy about.

Exactly who are we going to draft with those 2nds and 3rds that would amount to a "long term solution" NHL player? Even if we made home run selections with those picks those players would still need at the very least 3 years to develop and break into our lineup. If you take a look at the real data showing the odds of 2nd and 3rd round selections becoming full-time NHLers its extraordinarily low and they require lots of development.

The "longer term solutions" who are younger and have more term/RFA time left would have costed far more than what we would have been willing/able to pay. Id much rather have one and done quality depth rentals than empty the farm and all of our picks to get these expensive shiny toys you desire.

I'm pretty happy with getting Toffoli for the playoffs, especially at the price that was paid. This is a solid addition.

Spring is in the air (at least where I am) and the Jets are loading up for a playoff run. Feels good man.
