Better yet, just get three decent guys and put them together. 4C's are fake.

You can count the 4th liners good at faceoffs and playing center on your fingers.

Or play Brodzinski who is one of the three 4th liners ever that's good at faceoffs.

I should with in hockey. I have all the answers.
We can sign Craig MacTavish for D zone starts as long as someone's willing to push him back to the bench.

Motte is 5’10 - 170, he isn’t scaring anyone. The defense had to at least respect Gauthier’s speed.
it's not about scaring anyone. It's about being a hound on the puck and forcing the defense to be a bit uncomfortable from making a hockey plan NOT from being scared about Motte plastering them into the boards. The 4th line has to bring some energy. Not just flicking pucks in the air out of their zone hoping Gauthier chases them down.

I'm would say I'm fine with this, though.

Having effective/passable 4th liners is important as my seething hatred for certain guys will attest to.

I just happen to think that finding "good" 4th liners is like finding pigeons in New York. You barely have to look. (Which makes me even more angry about the shit ones seeing time!) And the difference between good 4th liners is like the difference between 63° and 64°. I think that's very true of Motte and Gauthier.

But whatever. We didn't lose anything. I hope he does well and everyone is happy. Except Jake Leschyshyn. I wish him unhappiness until he retires from ice hockey.
Mottes kills penalties, hits, and was playing 12 mins a night in the playoffs last year. I think it came down to who Gallant likes more, and Motte just feels like more of a playoff bottom 6 guy. So I'm good with it for that reason, also since a 6th rounder means nothing

He can kill penalties so it feels like he "does" something.

I think killing penalties is also pretty marginal but whatever.

Just keep him on the 4th line and I'm good.

I'd bet good money they re-sign him this time.

Vesey and Motte are 2/3rds of a good 4th line. Vesey's dirt cheap and Motte likely will be too.
And the other third is already in the lineup but the Rangers have gaslit themselves about playing him at center to the point where they have your cousin who played a bit for the Long Island Royals there instead.

"They have Schweppes ginger ale instead of Canada Dry so I'm gonna drink bleach."

Truth.

Though I'm like 95% sure he's gonna be the cap casualty this summer.

Yeah, for sure, so you're correct long-term.

The only feasible explanation for Leschyshyn existing here is that they weren't happy with their 4th line, which tracks with this, so I hope they continue to add.

If they do add, I haven't the faintest idea where they think Goodrow is going if not center. That's not my opinion, that's how many pegs and how many holes. Gonna be interesting.

Not saying you're wrong but that wasn't gonna happen here with this coach. And this is our coach for this year and probably next. He didn't even play Gauthier one min last playoffs. Even Hunt got 3 games over him.
He’s a better player this year than last and I think he could’ve been great on the fourth line… or in the top 9 if injuries happen.

Coincidentally, Rydahl just scored a goal for Hartford.
would have been nice to see him earlier in season if that was possible? Time is kinda running out to see what we have in him as an NHL 4c guy if the Rangers won't give him that chance by the TDL and the playoffs.
