Finally saw the new Lion King. Wasn’t terrible but after seeing the original like 25 years ago when I was a kid, and even more recently, the new version just lacked heart. The voice actors although very well known just did not have the same passion or delivery. Felt very forced at times. Just one major example, Jeremy Irons as Scar was just something that could not be topped, but this Scar was not even close, felt more like a grumpy uncle at the dinner table.

Thanks for the review. It's the total opposite of my 24 year old daughter's review but that is fine. I recall vividly all the times I saw the original with her and her sister and was really looking forward to seeing it. She loved it yet you didn't. I'm going to see it with my other daughter next week as we have a "Daddy/Daughter" day planned. I'll let you know my thoughts afterwards as I'll be interested to see if I'm more in your corner or my daughters or maybe you both are right...we'll see.

Call me extremely late to the show but I JUST saw Good Fellas last week. What's even worse is I was born and raised in Oxone Park so it was pretty cool to see that the whole base of operations was somewhere I've passed plenty of times. My uncles used to tell me stories of the block parties they'd throw but I never really put much thought into them lol

Well welcome to the Goodfellas party albeit almost 3 decades later...lol.

One of my favorite movies of all time and to this day, it is one of the very few movies on the planet where if I'm channel surfing looking for something to watch, if Goodfellas is on no matter where it is in the movie, I stop and watch it to the end. Just an epic movie. Anyways, welcome aboard the Goodfellas train even if it was 30 years late...hahaha.

I know your wondering...lol...but the other movies that are in this "special" category that I'll watch no matter where it is if I'm surfing and not in any particular order and do note some off these are not Oscar type's...just favorites of mine, but top of my head....The Godfather both 1 and 2....Shawshank Redemption...Silence of the Lambs...Remember the Titans...Training Day...Sicario...Midnight Run...Saving Private Ryan....Any of the Jason Bourne movies....Jaws....Gladiator...American Psycho...Requiem for a Dream...Titanic...Casino....The Departed...Braveheart...Road Warrior...Taxi Driver...The 300 and any James Bond flick.

Now that I look at this list of mine...wow alot of "body bags" are needed here in most of these movies I like...ya think? lol

I must the the only one left on the planet who hasn't seen it.

That was a show that ended abruptly. It had a great first season, a so so second and the third really picked it up and then poof. Gone. We got a real bull**** ending and unresolved plots. They built up Dorian Gray for nothing. That said, it is one of the best produced shows ever. The cinematography is probably the best ever on a tv show. This show did sell me on Josh Hartnet as a legit actor and Eva Green as a great actress. That scene in the seance is one of the best ever in tv history.
I just finished season 3 and I have to say I was extremely underwhelmed. To me, it looked like they decided about 1/3 of the way through they were going to cancel the show and the rest of the episodes showed it. Pity.

Finished Season 2 of Stranger Things. Pretty good tho I think I liked season 1 better. It was good enough to compel me to give season 3 a watch. Hopefully it will be good.

With just 2 episodes to go in City on the Hill, it's still pretty much the same ole same ole. Obviously I have to watch it to it's conclusion but overall I really haven't been all too impressed. If I had to give the show a 1-10 ranking with 10 being in the rarefied air that a Sopranos or The Wire or Breaking Bad for example reside, I'd give this show maybe a 5.

Just too much stereotypical Boston BS that we've seen over and over in Boston based shows/movies like the Departed, Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone...shit like that.

Let's put it this way, if there is a season 2, I won't exactly be pumped up to watch it.

That said, anyone have any recommendations of any shows to binge? I'm a pretty big fan of British shows by the way, so if any of y'all have some ideas I'm all ears. Do note, I've already viewed series like Happy Valley, Broadchurch, The Fall, The Crown and my favorite of all of them Peaky Blinders which was "godsmackingly brilliant"...lol

So if y'all have a fave of yours, toss it my way....cheers in advance blokes.

if you liked season 2 you'll definitely enjoy season 3...season 2 was definitely the weakest season of the 3. lots of people felt season 3 was the best but its debatable between 1 & 3

Season 2 of Stranger Things was definitely the weakest of the 3. I could even tell myself cause I blew through seasons 1 and 3, and had to sort of force myself to finish the 2nd season lol

Of the top of my head and on the newer side - Snowfall

Season 2 of Stranger Things was definitely weaker than 1 and 3 but I thought the last two episodes were excellent.

Thanks for the input all of you about Stranger Things. From sounds of it season 3 is going to be a good one. I'll likely start watching this weekend in between Met games, having my "honey do" duties and my "Daddy" stuff.

The things we have to do just to watch a damn show these days...lol

Thought season 2 was stronger than 1, but that's just me. 3 was fantastic, especially once it really got going in ep 3-4.

On recommendation above, I started watching Dark...by the middle of 2nd episode, I was hooked.

Did anyone like The Following?

My wife who loves Kevin Bacon, and I got into the series and watched I believe the first 2 seasons.

It was decent...nothing great..nothing horrible.

There was alot of body bags which is up my alley and the wifey had Bacon to stare at and so we gave it some love for two season. Than I dunno what happened beginning of Season 3 but the show really went off the rails and totally jumped the shark and so we gave up on it.

There are plenty of other series I'd watch before the Following if given the choice. That said, you might like it.

Not sure that helps you out but that's my honest appraisal.

One last thing before I leave to get ready for tonight's huge Met game. No one has mentioned this series but if you haven't watched Narcos which is on Netflix, I'd definitely give that a watch.

There are 3 or 4 seasons I forget but it starts off during the Pablo Escobar era and then the next series it's based on the Cali Cartel and so on. Great acting...excellent writing....unique way of telling the story...body bags...hot babes....what else do you need? lol.

Give it a shot...you won't regret it Catch ya later on. In the meantime...Let's Go Mets!!

I saw it...not for Bacon (who I also like), but for Purefoy -- who I think is a very underrated actor. Thought Season 1 was excellent...2 was OK. Should have cancelled after 2.

Agree about seasons 1-3. That’s why I think you will enjoy Snowfall. Did you watch Narcos Mexico? I heard mixed reviews.
