Can someone who is a Westworld fan convince me to finish watching Season 1(I think I got thru 5 episodes and I got bored) and that I should carry on and watch the next few seasons?

I mean it looks good...the trailers are intriguing but something is stopping me from doing it which I can't quite put my finger on hence why I'd like to read someone's reasoning as to why Westworld is such a good show that HBO keeps renewing it year after year...thx in advance!

I've felt the same way about the Walking Dead and gave it a little love early on and it just didn't do it for me. I never got into True Blood or Mad Men like everyone did. I dunno, there are just some series that lots of peeps love that I find myself avoiding for no real reason at all other than the fact everyone likes the show and so I'll be contrarian instead. I'm the one who's losing it tho...lol

But that really doesn't completely fly seeing I loved Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Game of Thrones and everybody and their mother loved those shows too.

Me I'm more apt to go for shows like the Wire, OZ, Peaky Blinders, Sons of Anarchy, Fargo, Better Call Saul, The Shield, Homeland and back in the day when some of y'all where still in diapers St.Elsewhere, NYPD Blue, LA Law, West Wing....etc etc.

I'll stop babbling now. As I originally said, I really would like a Westworld lover to help convince me and bring me over to the dark side...haha
Watched the first season of Westworld and was hooked for it. Great acting, plot, unique premise, twists that don't feel manufactured, it was all there. Started the second season and some of the new characters annoyed me and I just couldn't find the *it* factor anymore and dropped it after a couple of episodes. One day I'll come back to it.

The Walking Dead I managed to get through 4 seasons. I realized that I was skipping all the mopey blabbing and crying as well as the dumb extended 'mad run from beings that can barely drag themselves 2 MPH...whoops I fell again *drama ensues*' and was pretty much skipping entire episodes and gave it up and haven't looked back. I read recaps on the plot and was pretty happy with my decision overall lol

Keep in mind that I'm tremendously picky, even more so as I get older.

I, too, have jumped on the Outsider train lately. Definitely a good one but not necessarily blowing me away yet (have only seen first 3 episodes). I think I may still prefer Castle Rock season 1, but I tend to like more scifi/supernatural type shows than detective/cop shows.

I know Mendelsohn is great and I hate to say it, but the lisp just bumps me...

Started rewatching Oz last night. Why?Because its just that damn good.

You have good taste my friend as OZ is one of the most underrated awesome TV series ever created.

Simon Adebisi is one my favorite characters ever in any series I've ever seen. I could watch scenes with him in it for hours if necessary and wouldn't be bored...lol

Episode 5 of the Outsider was the creepiest yet. Looking forward to more creepy shit this coming Sunday night!

First episode of the final season of Homeland was on last Sunday and it was as usual good enough to keep my ass riveted and looking fwd to what's coming next while at same time annoyed that our hero Carrie Mattheson still looks like in every scene she's in, her eyes are going to pop out of it's sockets...lol

As a Public Service announcement because I'm a "swell" guy and cause I like you guys, the 5th season of Better Call Saul starts February 23rd which I can't wait for as it's one of the best series of the past 5 years by far and it's not really even close.

If any of y'all loved Breaking Bad and haven't watched BCS besides shame on you, it's on Netflix and you can binge the first 4 seasons so you can catch up.

Your welcome...:)

The Outsider, Homeland, BCS - yes, yes and yes!

I know I'm just a wealth of knowledge today but just read Ozark Season 3 will be released sometime in the late summer/early fall which to me says September.

Still awhile from now but at least when football starts again, we'll know we have Ozark to look forward too as well.

Ozark is another on of those unsung underrated series which once you start binging, you simply can't stop!!

I read that Ozark season 3 will be released on March 27th.

This post is too funny - you like all the same shows I like and you stopped watching all the shows that I didn't like.
Also, your username is Maximus - my favorite movie of all time is Gladiator.

Well you and I are apparently brothers from a different mother...lol

And yes Gladiator is probably in my top 5 of favorite movies of all time hence why I chose Maximus as my avatar 17 years ago or something like that when I joined the site here.

Not sure any of y'all have watched Narcos since the beginning but if not, you've missed out on an awesome f***ing show.

Series 4 came out a few days ago and I'm already 5 episodes in. What a great series. If you guys like series that deal with drugs/cartels/body bags/CIA/DEA intrigue/Escobar/Cali Cartel/El Choppo....this is your show

It's been on my long list of backlog shows, lol. I'm convinced I'll die before I ever finish watching all the shows on my backlog list hahah

I signed up for HBO just to give True Detective and Westworld another chance. For some reason, I never got into either show the first time around, but going to give them a 2nd shot. True Detective season 1, in particular, is supposed to be among the best TV ever made.

I gave up on The Walking Dead some episodes into season 8, it got THAT bad. I'm one that usually finishes a show once I start getting invested, but that one was an exception.

Thx for reminding me of what a great series True Dectives is/was. The 1st season as you say was phenomenal with Mcconahy and Harrelson. The 2nd season with Colin Farrel was OK but last year's 3rd season amped it up again and so I'm looking forward to season 4 whenever it comes out.

I still haven't given Westworld another shot because no one in here despite my asking, has convinced me I should give it a second look.

Besides, Homeland has started again and Better Call Saul starts next week so with those two plus the Outsider, that seems to be enough shows to keep me busy in between Ranger games.

I've watched the first season of True Detective a few times now. There are portions of the show which are A++ quality television and comparable to anything else I've ever seen. The opening scene, the 7 minute continuous shot where McConnaughey is doing all sorts of crazy **** and the scenes involving the investigation and discovery of the "spaghetti monster" show an elite level control of tone and cinematography. The entire thing kind of unravels at the end though. Seemed like Pizzollatto just ran out of time.

Season two is utter trash. It's unwatchable. I forced myself through it the first time given the credibility the showrunner established with the first season but seriously just do yourself a favor and don't waste even a minute of your life watching it. Season three is good solid crime TV and you don't need to watch season two to understand the narrative.
