Yeah I remember reading about that. Which is why I was hesitant about watching it but some people told me it’s still worth watching.

If you're a sci fi person, BSG is probably the best sci fi television series in history. Compelling story lines, realism/believable, camerawork, music, etc... It's not a Lost/GoT bad ending but it is somewhat of a letdown.

Finally caught Denis Villeneuve's Dune. I now understand why it won 6 technical Oscars. Just breathtaking visually and auditory. But the quality of the acting is also high calibre. The story is a slow burn but worth it.

Part 2 is gonna be incredible.

I do hope they eventually greenlight Dune Messiah, as that is also a really nice slowburn and the SciFi mini series was really good. I don't have expectations that they will go beyond to do Children of Dune.

I wonder how well Timothee Chalamet does with aging up...

It mirrors the book - the first half is A LOT of description and laying the foundation for what's to come. It's pretty obvious the director is a fan of the books.

Not sure if late to the party on these but

Blackbird was incredible

and just finished Inventing Anna which was entertaining esp if you liked Julia Garner in Ozark
Blackbird is on another level. The actor who played serial killer Larry Hall was just incredible.

Final season is a bit of a disappointment on a bunch of levels but, overall, one of the best TV shows in history.

Kinda like Battlestar Galactica (remake) - awesome until the end.
Yeah the end of seadon 8 was mediocre. But I think people would have bitched regardless of how it ended, just like they did with Breaking bad, Sopranos, etc.

Still, probably my favorite show all-time.

Absolutely is.

Agree and agreed. Probably my favorite show of all time as well.

Have been watching Game of Thrones for the first time this summer. Better late than never. Holy crap is it good. Going to finish season 7 tonight.

Gonna watch House of Dragon after this.
The seasons where they 'ran out of book/material/script' shows. They rushed it

The first 5 seasons are as good as it gets. 6 and 7 had some strong points. 8 was garbage

Why is it good?
It is a really good blend of self-aware cheese, 80s nostalgia, drama, comedy and, yes, action choreography. Surprisingly so. The fights are on par with those in big martial arts movies. The showrunners know they couldn't go with the straightlaced tone of the original Karate Kid movies, so they go with tongue in cheek humor and blend with good drama and twists in the storylines. Also love that they bring back all the classic characters from the movie series, now represented as middle aged adults and their kids are "next generation" characters.

Just binged all of S5, so much fun. Amazing they've kept it fresh. Every season has been good if not better than the previous one. S5 is 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Thanks!

I see it on RottenTomatoes with REALLY HIGH scores and I keep thinking I'll watch. Maybe after I finish "Barry". :)

First 3 eps of Season 8 especially “The long night” , was very good. That battle was epic and how it ended was wow. Anyway, I have 2 more eps to go.

It took me three tries to get through the first episode of Rings of Power and I think, despite being a huge Tolkein fan, I'm probably out after episode two was similarly boring and slow-paced.

House of the Dragon easily wins the fantasy battle for me at this point, even if episode three had me thinking I was watching a late-night Skinamax show for a few minutes. Can't remember if we talked about it on here before, but I always feel like extended sex scenes in movies/tv are cringe. Especially considering that girl looks all of 15 years old.

I mean, it’s not HOTD, but it’s not that bad. There are going to be like, 5 seasons. I’m into it. Curious to see where it goes.

I’m clearly in the minority but I think Rings of Power is vastly superior. I don’t mind that they’ve condensed tomes of history into a non-accurate time line, they’re still representing tons of lore in a gorgeous, well executed, and in my opinion well acted show that every bit of Tolkien nerd in me is loving.

Tried to get into Rings, but couldn't. I'm out after 3 eps. Coming out at the same time as HoD definitely hurt them, HoD is pretty much a masterpiece so watching anything else is going to be very subpar.

No HBO = no HoD for me unfortunately (and I can't be bothered chasing down an illegal stream), but RoP has mostly held my interest through the first 3 episodes and I'm interested to see where the story lines go.

Love Sandman, they did a fantastic job bringing the books to life

So just finished GoT better late than never, lol. I thought it ended pretty well, but Season 8 was rushed, no doubt.
I didn't like the fate of Jon Snow, he deserved better. His actions of bringing everyone together saved the realms first from the dead and then from another mad ruler, should not have gotten him exiled. it threw the whole revelation about his true parents out the window. Hopefully his spinoff series will give him better justice

Bosch is another good show. Have you seen the spin-off yet?

City on a Hill is on my list, and Snowfall ain't over yet (has one more season)!
I started watching Bosch a couple weeks ago (newborn daughter so I have a lot of time in front of the tv at this point) and I’m already in season 5. This show is really good as far as police procedurals go. I really like it a lot.

He should get his redemption off the rumored spin off GoT show he is going to get.

I’m a couple of years behind but yeah you could see the actors reaction to some of their characters development and whatnot. Hopefully these spin offs will justify the rushed and not well thought out ending to GOT.

I still don’t think the last season was bad as some people were complaining about but I agree with some of the issues.

Hrm. I think he ended up precisely where he wanted to.
