Just have to say that so far my take on the show episode by episode has been somewhat different from other posters. Your description "anxiety-driven" is pretty apt because my wife and I did feel this heighted tension in a lot of scenes (and therefore liked episodes overall) while other posters just weren't affected the same way.

My girl did say that while she likes the show (I love it so far), she does feel it's heavier a show than she usually watches. She also thinks the show in a way is sad since all this mainly started from an accident, which has affected multiple people.

One of my good friends is also watching this with his wife, and he told me the anxiety-driven scenes only pick up more lol

Not going to give you any notable spoilers but there will be a "simple" scene of quiet dinner in one of the upcoming episodes that we were watching at the end of our seats.

I gave up on Outlander after 3 episodes...just couldn't get into it.

Instead last night watched the new Denzel movie that's on HBO max "The Little Things" which had received a pretty decent build up and so was looking forward too it. Jared Leto and the weird looking actor Rami Malek who was Freddie Mercury in Bohemiam Rhapsody were also in it and with it being a psychological thriller with some body bags, it was right up my alley.

I'm as big a Denzel fan as there is out there. To this day his role as Alonzo in "Training Day" just might be my favorite character in any movie ever. Well I'm here to tell you it was withought a doubt the worst movie I've ever seen Denzel in EVER!!

The movie simply sucked. I couldn't wait for it to be over to be honest. I've seen this same movie 30 times in my life but so long as the acting is good and the story line is as well, I can still enjoy it. Not this one...it was terrible. I don't even think I could recommend it too anyone it was that bad.

Denzel needs to do an Equalizer 3 or something like that cause this role of his here....ugh lots of ugh!!

Rami Malek was also the actor in Mr. Robot tv series (highly recommended).

Otherwise to the rest of your post - I'm not surprised. I gave up generally on watching movies altogether, and my only interest is in TV series (or mini series).

It took me two nights to get through it and that was only because I fell asleep the first time and decided I'd already wasted so much time that I needed to finish. Hugely disappointing.

Training Day or Man on Fire.

Training Day is one of my top 10 movies ever. And as I said Denzel's "Alonzo Harris" is one of the great characters if not my favorite villan of alltime.

Man on Fire was really good as well. I kind of like his Equalizer movies also as he kicks some major ass and he does it in such a smooth cool fashion. Denzel is getting a bit up there in years now and so not sure he can pull it off anymore.

Watching Preacher now. Jesse Custer’s pretty cool so far.

I watched "The Comey Rule" on Showtime last night. It's a two parter starring Jeff Daniels as FBI director Jim Comey and I have to admit, I actually kind of liked it. I was not expecting to seeing I know the whole story but it surprised me and I was entertained.

Anyways, if someone is looking for a decent movie...check this one out.

Anyone watch Pennyworth? It's freaking good. It's weird and not a big budget show but it's done very well. I started watching it on a lark and I am glad I did.

It's on Epix.

Edit: It's an origin story about Batman's butler but not a superhero show.

I was aware of the show but didn’t realize it had come out. It’s an epix exclusive? I felt like I read it was like a Starz or Showtime production. Either way, I’d check it out. I am legitimately like a Batman historian. I’d wager I’ve read +80% of every Batman ever written.

I think it's exclusive to Epix.

I just like the vibe of the show, the lead is excellent and it's written very well. It does have Thomas Wayne, and the eventual Martha Wayne, before they got married, so there's definitely a connection to Bruce. I am not sure what the cannon is for Alfred but his back story in the show is former British SAS. It fits and of course works well with the greater storyline.

I am not all that familiar with Batman's origins but I like the show on it's own merits. It does take some license with history and such but that didn't bother me in the least.

Edit: They split season 2 into two parts because of Covid. I watched up to season 2 episode 4 there will be 6 more episodes coming in March.

I’ll check it out. As with most characters besides Bruce (who still has some variations in his mid-life story) there’s a few versions of the backstory floating around for Alfred, but SAS is one of them and fits well. I’d read about the show a good deal when it was first announced. I never realized it came out.

It's already in season 2. I think you will like it. It was definitely a pleasant surprise, heck my GF actually liked it a lot.

Edit: Glad the back story fits. Also without giving anything away, the societal narrative fits a Batman origin type of show.

Watching Snowpiercer, almost done with S1.

Edit: Thought S1 was 5 episodes, so I'm not almost done. Never done, actually, as I discovered I would have to pay for eps 6-10.

I thought about starting it recently.
I watched it grudgingly because of what TV has done in the past with SK's work (see the underwhelming "The Dome", but I've heard good things about 11-22-23). It was definitely better than I expected and I am an SK fanatic.

Mindlessly watched Troy other day because it was on. This has to be the movie's best scene

I so want to use this in another thread.
