Um, but he did tap out of a big spot.

Must have been one of those super serious three day injuries I guess.

What a ****ing miracle.

You guys are acting like he had cancer and was suddenly cured. If he tweaked his groin or something in a minor way missing three days is pretty standard....

If you think he tweaked his groin, then why aren't you pissed he didn't try to play through it?

Guys play hurt all the time, especially this time of year.

He didn't even dress as the backup. A tweaked groin Tuukka isn't a better option on the bench than Zane McIntyre?

Why do people lower their normal standards and expectations for a hockey player when it comes to this guy? Why does he get treated with kid's gloves?

Thank you. I haven't spit up my coffee into a laughing fit in quite a while.

Outside of the TB game, every goal he's let up has been the result of a deflection. Zero softies. We get it, Donnie. You're in a cranky mood today for whatever reason. But Tuukka has been playing better (again, outside of the TB game) of late, and has been on the wrong end of some unlucky bounces. Not great every game mind you. But better than the numbers show IMO.

It's a great question.

Worse yet, why are absences from the two most important games of each of the last two seasons and an Olympic game treated like nothing? It's not like he's not gutting through a mid-season back-to-back...he doesn't gut through the two must-win games this team has had the last two years!!!

It was like Game 73. With much harder competition coming up. But that was the BIG ONE. He was probably getting a game or two off anyway

Every game is a big spot at this point in the season. He wasnt physically confident he could get the job done. Anton was. Anton did get it done. Rask felt better and came back against a better team and played very well

But I'm sure you'll find something else to cry about

lol Rask plays a great game and people still want to complain and call him out...yet Dobby finally has some good games and people want to make him the starter.

Uhhhh because he's underperforming as is and if he isn't physically confident then what sane person wants him out there??

Well the great news is that he's actually quite a talented guy, which is something most of the "haters" readily admit.

So that means he can shut up about 90% of the criticism with him alone, if he would just show up and play the way he's capable.

Last night was a great start and I'm sure he'd love that kind of defensive effort in front of him every game.

6 more to go, and I want to see this version of Rask in every start he has left.

I love how the haters constantly move the goalposts with regard to what are the "most important" games of the year. Had he played two games ago and had to sit out last night, it all of a sudden would've been last night's game that was the most important.

Because to me there is a huge difference between a forward playing with a tweaked groin and a goalie playing through it (or whatever LBI he had). He could potentially **** up his groin permanently over extending on a save, or he won't be stretching out as far making him an easy target for goals that make him move laterally.

I have played hockey my whole life, and if there is one position that I wouldn't expect to play through a lower body injury it would be goaltender. I don't see anyway that they aren't a detriment to the team while injured.

I`m confused, is Rask good again here?

Yes, Rask is good. But respectfully, in my opinion that's not the question. The question is, is he good enough to help the team win the cup, or a cup? I think the jury is out on that due to the prevailing evidence compiled over the last three seasons.

He's not good enough with the current defense in front him. No one probably is. Get us a blueline corps that matches up with the top 1/3 of the league and yes, Rask certainly is capable of helping win a cup.

The next biggest game is against Tampa, for obvious reasons.

And last week in a different thread I said that they could play .500 hockey the rest of the way depending on where they got those points. If they lost to the teams they are competing against it was a problem.

Being intentionally obtuse about why the Islanders game was so important is not a good look. Defend Tuukka better. It's more fun when the arguments are good.

Tuukka was clearly too hurt to play, we ended up winning....so why are we even dwelling on it?

The team doctors made the right choice shutting him down, unless you have some inside information Doctor EverettMike.

All the games are important at this point ,but obviously a game against one of the teams your fighting with to make the playoffs and having lost 4 straight makes it more important. Not sure what the problem is Rask played a very good game last night, that's a good thing .I hope he has lots more.

Didn't he shut himself down the second he got to practice Friday by saying he's doesn't think he can go 36 hours later? Before he even tried to practice?

Yeah. I'm a "hater". I'm constantly writing posts ripping Rask.

And if you want to pretend like there were people in Boston who didn't acknowledge that the Islanders game was pretty much a must-win, go ahead.

Yeah I really don't get this as a defense. It was the very team they were in a battle with for the WC spot.

Certain games are circled on the calandar, especially this time of year. This is not news.
