Need a much better return than that.....Gallagher first choice is to sign him but if you cannot ....Gallagher for a top prospect like Samuel Poulin.

interesting...not sure he’d garner that but I can see why you’d expect it.

If we can't resign Gallagher to a reasonable contract I wouldn't mind trading him to Vegas for Tuch. They get under the cap but we would have to shed a bit more cap space for the next season whenever that is.

Real good players are going for not a lot right now.

An MVP forward got 1 year $8M because the offers he wanted weren’t there.

Keep Gallagher to start the season. Nobody’s giving anything significant for him now.

If you’re in a playoff spot, keep him. If you’re not, don’t.

Wait for someone to take his job, though. Deal from a position of relative strength.

they got Schmidt for a 3rd, they're not going to give all that for 1 YEAR of Gallagher. lol
Believe it’s implied Van would need to extend prior to deal. More importantly VGK needed to get close to cap ceiling, as fewer teams will have $ available as offseason moves on....Habs aren’t in that situation.

If we were to trade Gallagher to the canucks, I would want 1st round pick + Podkolzin
or Boeser

I would bet big money Habs do ask for the captain......Horvat..

Package deal of some sorts not a 1 for 1.

BGally is a legend in Vancouver..If he was the new captain the city would be over the moon

BGALLY would sign a extension deal in Vancouver AND likely give them a discount ...and taxes better in BC than Montreal ? He lives about 30 clicks outside Vancouver...perfect landing spot

No way. With this roster the habs will he in or around a playoff spot.
You don’t risk losing him squat. He’s either traded or signed before Jan 1

That actually hurts and says something about loyalty. Gallagher most certainly deserves Anderson money, if not more, for all he's done since being drafted here. If it comes to him leaving then I certainly hope he gets paid and the parting is friendly. Would love to have him back in some capacity in the org since he's my favorite Hab.

Gally is the only homegrown guy on the team except Price. Does he feel that way about Danault, Drouin, Byron, Chiarot or Edmundson?

MB has proven time & again he’s a cold hearted killer, he’s got a price in his head and no one crosses that line: Gorges, Radulov, Markov, Pacioretty, no hesitation in demoting Alzner despite optics...

MB is stubborn and if he has a $$$ in his head, and Gally's agent is too far from it, then it's a big problem

The Schmidt trade isn't going to drive the value of any other trade. It was exceptional circumstances where Vegas just wanted to get rid (with no or minimal retention) of someone fast to finalize the deal for AP, in a world where little teams were willing to take on his big salary without being compensated - even if the player is good.

It all depends on the deal of course. We're not in a position of need to trade him right now, so Vancouver or whoever wants him will have to pay up.

Love the player, but if the best decision for the org. is to take the deal, you take it.
