Leafs definitely have a couple guys - JVR if they want more of a prime asset and Bozak if they feel like cheap dumpster diving

In my opinion, the idea that the Vancouver Canucks deserve to draft the next McDavid is the most delusional I've ever read on this website.

It's sheer entitlement at the highest degree imaginable.

The Vancouver Canucks were an elite team less than 5 years ago.

Cities like Calgary, Columbus, Carolina, Winnipeg, Arizona, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Minnesota have been watching their teams go nowhere for much longer and are far more deserving of top picks.

Vancouver Canucks fans need to get over it because ownership is doing the right thing by respecting the process of the NHL by not blowing it up but assembling a staff of elite amateur scouts to get franchise players outside of the top draft positions until the Canucks deserve to pick there.

In two year our best offensive players in the Sedin's are more than likely going to retire, that takes away most of our offense, we want 1st line players to replace them, drafting those players is the best way to go, how the hell is it entitlement to want that now so that we can plan for the future?

The NHL is a business, in business you do what it takes to succeed, ownership wants to make money they could care less about respecting a process, they want to make the playoffs every year because that means playoff revenue, but they seem to have no interest in actually winning a cup. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Sense of entitlement? We have watched this team for 40 years and they haven't won a damn thing, there is nothing but a desire within the fan base to finally get over that threshold, we have no entitlement here, every fan of every team wants said team to get the best players available, that's not entitlement that's called being a fan.

lol, that is funny....

Are you saying the being an awful franchise that continuously messes up is what makes a team deserving of first overall? The Canucks have never drafted 1st overall, and have had 2 picks in the top 3 in their existence. A team like Vancouver deserves it because they COMPETED (like a PROFESSIONAL TEAM should) and age, and time has caught up with them. They didn't throw in the towel like the Leafs and ice the worst possible roster in an attempt to finish last.

It's funny that you think teams that flat-out suck because of their own mistakes and bone-headed moves deserves a top pick more than a team like Detroit or Vancouver who has simply passed their window and needs replenishing due to actually being a competent hockey team the last 10years and not drafting top10 over, and over, and over

This can't be said enough. This isn't Edmonton and their 7 1st overalls or the Leafs and intentional tanking and selling off any and all veterans.
This is a Canucks team who has continually spent to the cap, played for the playoffs every season. If anything, entitled is the last thing Canucks fans are when it comes to the draft. He'll we've only ever legit had 1 top 3 draft pick that was ours, we traded for the other picks to draft that high. Hell we had to watch a Jets team and a Blue Jackets knock us out our only second ever Top3 draft pick earned by standings.

Pathetic to think a fan of an intentional tanker would have the audacity to claim this.

What the team needs is a GM with the stones to actually trade Sedins and any other player from 2011 (besides Tanev). Edler, Burrows, Sedins, even Hansen since he actually HAS trade value.
BUT....ownership won't hire such a GM.

What we are saddled with is Good Ol Trevor and his warm n fuzzy '94 stories to be the PR guy whenever dung hits the fan.

Looking for a 20 goal scorer you say? I have the perfect idea! Take Horvat off the 3rd and 4th line, put him in the offensive zone from time to time and Voila! There's your ****ing 20 goal scorer *******!

I think you're overanalyzing the whole thing.

It's pretty simple: This team sucks right now and needs to draft some elite prospects to start heading in the right direction. That doesn't mean fans feel entitled to anything, they just want things to go well for their team. Why should they be concerned about how long a bunch of other teams have sucked for?

"The Vancouver Canucks have already been keeping up the integrity of the league for 40 years so they're allowed to cut in front of the line" isn't a good argument in my opinion. The NHL has a process in place for teams to replenish their talent pool and I don't support efforts to subvert that process because that always ends badly, for example look at what happened the salary cap subverting Luongo contract. They even had to nerf tanking because of Edmonton subverting the system so blatantly.

I'm a fan of the game of hockey first before my allegiance to certain teams. The integrity of the NHL matters more than any individual team. Who cares if the Canucks win 10 stanley cups in a row if the league they play in has lost its integrity?

The league lost its integrity by allowing Oilers to get 1OA multiple years in a row, and not doing anything when the Leafs organisation verbally admits its tanking for 1OA and the league lets it happen.

Will you people just stop with trying to pawn off JVR. If that's the case then you can take Burrows or Sbisa and Dorsett.
Gardiner is also softer than Cottonelle, why do we want him?

Who's trying to pawn off JVR? He's a damn good player on an elite contract in a cap context that many teams would be dying to get their hands on. Dude, Vancouver is absolutely capped out. Adding a top six forward like JVR on his sweetheart deal would make Jim Benning crap his pants.

How do you people come up with this crap?

Then why does every deal include JVR?!

What a twisted view of things..

NO MOVEMENT CLAUSES
NO TRADE CLAUSES

What type of GM are you looking for exactly? One that can make conditions in contracts magically go away? Or one that can magically find a market for Burrows?

Not sure you even know what Lindens role in the organization even is with the way you make him out to be the one making the moves.

wow.
