TSN 690 and Other Montreal Based Media (Part 10)

so pedigree gives you a free pass ? don't get me wrong there's alot Mathesion can do but over using him does not help him at all in fact it's poor player management which seems to me like one of smarty's biggest problems.we'll see if he can couch his way through a single series.

He gets overused because Savard has fallen off 5 on 5 but has to be deployed for the PK.. and Struble/Xhekaj aren't playing in a way that lets them play more than they are right now.

We are well ahead of where we should be in a rebuild, the coach having to lean heavily on the guys he does have that he trusts is a function of a team that is not fully developed or fully formed. Nothing about this is surprising or different.

I can agree with Matheson being overplayed. He’s a 3-4 not a 1-2. That said, I still stand by the fact that he is way ahead of Wifi in terms of overall game

if Arbor's iq is limited WTF is wrong with Matheson ? the guy is turnover machine.i'd like to see the Arbor that first started playing for us with huge confidence,a sneaky accurate shot from the blue line and punishing net presence but smarty bonaparte prefers the shiny toys and head games...just sickening.

Arber and Matheson is comparing apples to oranges.

Give arber matheson's assignments and ice time for the whole season. I'd wager there would be a huge change in the habs fortunes.

If you’re a regular BPM listener, their signal has gone dead since this morning on account of a gas leak in TMR. They are continuing their broadcasts on YouTube.

I get so hyped for Habs playoff games and then realize I have to watch on tva. Puts such a damper on the whole thing. That play-by-play guy just doesn't have it at all. Yesterday habs are losing 3-1 in third and I swear he said 'le Canadien a le vent dans les voiles'. I'm sure he's a great guy but he's just awful as a play by play. Weak voice and his obsession with saying le 'le Québécois' anytime a french guy gets the puck like wtf?? Ok rant over!

TVA is owned by Quebecor. You know what that means. He's just following orders.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with a local network being more excited about hometown players (they do the same in the States and other Canadian provinces). It's just overwhelming in the case of TVA Sports. We get it, they're Québécois like most of us. Doesn't mean we care more about every single one of them. It depends on the individual player. Some Québécois players I respect more than others. Not that there's many left in the league (which is incredibly embarrassing, in my opinion).

I do prefer RDS. Been following the Habs with Pierre for over two decades. He's had his lot of questionable color commentators, but finally found his fit with Marc Denis.

I don't care about the homerrism, I just think they are not good at broadcasting. You would think getting the Habs tv rights would motivate you in at least getting a premier play-by-play guy.

SN and TSN are fig stations
bottom line
yet they both fail to see that they should represent all the Canadian teams
their webpages are all figs only time they are not is when the figs get kicked out of the playoffs

While this is 100% true, they probably talk about the habs the 2nd most and it isn't even close. Imagine being the Jets or Flames. They get absolutely no coverage. Oilers only get coverage because of McDavid and Draisaitl. Vancouver gets decent coverage I guess. But the truth is, they cover what gets them views. While they're all fig homers as all national broadcasting is based out of Toronto, it's not nefarious, it's economical

I don't care what SN or TSN do really. They do what's best for their business. I would believe Leafs coverage gets them ratings they want. It's not rocket science.

When I channel surfed to the Rocket game yesterday, that’s all it took for me to hear Stéphane Leroux, who was doing the PxP, say « la passe au Québécois ».

Sometimes it gets more elaborate with « la passe au Franco-Ontarien », and a host of other hyphenated contraptions preceded by « Franco ».

Who in the viewing audience is asking for this? And then it gets recycled by Leroux’s son during intermissions, who has a segment throughout the season highlighting the stats of Quebec players in junior leagues and also conducting interviews with « le Québécois » (insert name here): Hockey Le Magazine télé : une rencontre avec l’attaquant québécois Charles Hudon au menu

If their names don’t give them away as Québécois to a Quebec audience watching a game called in French on a French language station, you have to wonder why are these on air people beating that drum to such excesses.

Saying it multiple times during plays adds nothing to the viewing experience. Maybe the folks at Bye Bye or a local standup comedian could get material out of it.
