Hutson looked awesome in the playoffs, oh wait, he got completely caved, like we all said he would, an undersized defensemen that doesn't play defense, didn't play defense and when the checking got tight, it got even worse.

His same deficiencies just showed up even worse, like they do for 99% of undersized dmen. Also, he's completely lost in his own end, how can he fix that? Gain 45 pounds and grow 6 inches and learn to play defense suddenly, when he plays like a 4th forward? We've seen the same thing before with guys like Ghost, which is a good comparable for him, even though he can't shoot like Ghost. Wasn't long ago Ghost was the next "big thing", I see a similar path for Hutson they're both offense first guys that lack defensive awareness / size.

Demidov is a future superstar & already has a full pro season under his belt. Very reasonable take to assume he's the front runner

That's why he's in the NHL, to contribute offensively.
And blew a game, and looked horrific in his own end lol. I don't get what you're saying, I never denied he's not gifted offensively. Wouldn't want him on my team in a big game though. I'm sure he'll compile solid numbers on the PP for many years, thats to be expected, not much else.

Both great players but being defencemen, they will need Lane Hutson like seasons to beat out a budding superstar forward like demidov.
60-70 points from demi should get the job done. And I fully expect him to hit those numbers next year.
I mean it could be a lot of different guys, some were not even thinking. Schaefer could come in and blow everyone's tits off. I still think Leonard is one of the front runners. Parekh looked good in his limited run at the end of the season. Wallstedt or Askarov could vastly exceed expectations if they run with the job. Nikishin and Buium.
I think it'll be a big year for d-men.
